**Project Summary**: For the Protection of Human Rights Defenders and Journalists (PDP) is a program of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). PDP aims to contribute to improving the institutional and operational capacity of governmental and non-governmental actors involved in the protection of human rights defenders and journalists. Through this program, it is intended to support the generation of a safer civic space for the exercise of freedom of expression and the defense of rights. PDP will work through August 2026 and engages with counterparts and allies at the federal and state levels_._ **Please note: Only Mexican citizens are eligible for this position** **Position Summary**: The Human Rights Protection Consultant will facilitate a keynote speech and a contextual analysis workshop on the protection of human rights defenders and journalists, aimed at public officials. The keynote speech will be delivered during the "Exchange Meeting on Best Practices for Human Rights Defenders and Journalists," organized by PDP. It will focus on fostering the identification and deep understanding of the challenges faced by the Mexican state in protecting defenders and journalists, as well as the coordinated actions needed among protection agencies at all levels of government. The training workshop will center on contextual analysis for the comprehensive protection of defenders and journalists from an inter-institutional perspective. **Responsibilities**: - Deliver a keynote speech and workshop to a group of public officials, either virtually, in person, or in a hybrid format. - Design a workshop with both theoretical and practical components. - Incorporate an intercultural and gender perspective in the design and execution of both activities, addressing the various challenges faced by human rights defenders and journalists in their work. - Prepare a report summarizing key observations and descriptions of the workshop's development. **Perfil de la Compañía**: **Resumen del Proyecto**: Por la Protección de Personas Defensoras y Periodistas (PDP) es un programa de la Agencia de los Estados Unidos para el Desarrollo Internacional (USAID). PDP tiene el objetivo de contribuir a mejorar la capacidad institucional y operativa de actores gubernamentales y no gubernamentales involucrados en la protección de las personas defensoras de derechos humanos y periodistas. A través de este programa, se pretende apoyar en la generación de un espacio cívico más seguro para el ejercicio de la libertad de expresión y la defensa de derechos. PDP trabajará hasta agosto de 2026 y realiza actividades con contrapartes y aliados a nível federal y estatal. ***Sólo ciudadanos mexicanos son elegibles para este puesto.** **Resumen del Cargo**: PDP requiere a una persona consultora que lleve a cabo la facilitación de una conferencia magistral y un taller de análisis de contexto para la protección de personas defensoras de derechos humanos y periodistas, dirigido a personas servidoras. La conferencia magistral se impartirá en el marco del “_Encuentro para el Intercambio de Buenas Prácticas para Personas Defensoras de Derechos Humanos y Periodistas”_ organizado por PDP y estará enfocada a fomentar la identificación y comprensión profunda de los retos que enfrenta el estado mexicano en la protección de las personas defensoras y periodistas, así como, la acciones que se deben implementar de manera coordinada entre las instancias de protección de los tres níveles de gobierno. El taller de capacitación se centrará en sobre análisis de contexto en la protección integral de las personas defensoras y periodistas desde una óptica interinstitucional. **Responsabilidades**: - Impartir una conferencia magistral y un taller a un grupo de personas servidoras públicas, de forma virtual y/o presencial (modelo hibrido). - Diseñar un taller con un enfoque teórico y práctico. - Incorporar la perspectiva intercultural y de género en el diseño y el desarrollo de ambas actividades, abordando los distintos retos que enfrentan las personas defensoras de derechos humanos y periodistas en el ejercicio de su labor. - Elaborar un reporte que incluyan las principales observaciones y descripciones del desarrollo del taller. **Qualifications**: - Bachelor's degree in law, political science or related field required. - Minimum two years of experience working directly in workshops/keynote lectures required. - Expertise in human rights and/or freedom of expression required. - Ability to develop workshops and lectures with a gender and human rights perspective. - Fluency in Spanish required.
