Staff accounting

SWBC is seeking a talented individual who can successfully apply the principles of general accounting in the preparation of month-end close duties, review operational accounting journal entries for compliance with US GAAP, prepare audit schedules and account reconciliations, and assist in assembling audit support for management review. This is a great opportunity to deepen your accounting skills in a dynamic and respected organization.Essential duties include the following:Perform accurate recording of agency financial transactions and reporting using the Agency Management System (AMS 360).Reconcile direct bill carrier statements and downloads.Prepare and review internal and external commission calculations, statements, and corresponding journal entries.Resolve policy and payment discrepancies by working with the operations team and carriers.Prepare monthly payments to insurance and brokerage companies.Perform monthly closing process and prepare various month-end journal entries and supporting documentation.Maintain integrity of balance sheet accounts through preparation and review of reconciliations, verifying account activity and balances for accuracy and reasonableness. Works with other departments to clear reconciling items in a timely manner.Assist with year-end processes including W-9 and 1099 annual requirements.Complete monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc management reporting.Responsible for drafting new or updating accounting process narratives, flow charts, control matrixes, and job manuals.Collaborate with the division accounting team to identify processes that can be streamlined or automated and propose solutions to enhance efficiency.Assist with the development of processes and documentation for new or recently implemented accounting pronouncements.Gather audit support for internal and external audit requests.Review audit support provided by operations against the auditor requests to ensure accuracy of support and that the requests are completed in their entirety.Perform a variety of accounting projects or other duties, as requested by management.Serious candidates will possess the minimum qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or four-year university required.At least three (3) years' experience in general accounting and financial preparation.Strong general ledger software and Microsoft Excel skills.Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of MS Excel.Strong analytical and organizational skills to oversee multiple work assignments.Demonstrated fluency in English at a B2/C1 level (CEFR), enabling effective communication in complex professional contexts.Excellent communication skills to communicate both verbally and in writing with senior management.Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of management, exercising discretion and independent judgment while performing duties with limited supervision.Strong working knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).Agency accounting experience preferred.Able to sit for long periods of time executing, updating, and validating personal computer applications.Able lift 10-20lbs of boxes containing accounting documentation.Additional Information:SWBC is a Substance-Free Workplace and requires pre-employment drug testing.To learn more about SWBC, visit our website at
