Actuarial Vice President

This role is fully responsible for actuarial reserves soundness (both MX GAAP and US GAAP) for both Insurance and Annuities business. Actuarial reserves are composed of Unearned Premium and Benefits Reserve (Reserva de Riesgos en Curso), Claims Incurred but not yet and / or not fully reported (IBNR) and Claims occurred and reported, among the most representative. Sufficieny, backtesting, model design, and forecasting and communication of results are part of this activity. This position leads the design, adequacy and approval of actuarial models ensuring convergence and compliance with the local regulation framework (CUSF), the rules from US Insurance commissioner and FASB, and the Model Risk Manager's (MRM) internal policy. Person in charge is a key player to ensure that maturity and interest rate mismatch among financial assets and actuarial liabilities are adequate to ensure reserves sufficiency and regulatory capital adequacy. Partnering with Corporate Treasury, Operations, Risk and Finance as a trusted advisor but acting as a challenger are also activities in the scope. Regulatory reporting, internal reporting, accounting recording, and reconciliation are activities that lay under the scope of this position. Responsibilities Assists in protecting Citi's assets and continuity of business from fortuitous loss, through risk analysis / financing, placement and administration of property / casualty insurance programs, captive insurance company management Participates in the establishment and monitoring of actuarial risks standards, review and approval of actuarial risk insurance placements and product programs Directly manages an actuarial reserves team or work group and he/she will be responsible for managing the day‑to‑day activities of this team, reporting to the head of actuarial models and reserves. Actuarial reserves assessment. It includes the dual assessment for local regulation and US GAAP. Current assessment, back testing, sufficiency. Model risk compliance (Notas técnicas & MRM). Prepare and keep up‑to‑date all the reserves documentation for both CNSF (Notas Técnicas) and MRM (MDDTs) as well as annual reviews or any modification in order to keep under control model risk. Regulatory Reporting. Preparing regulatory reports, socialize them and get approval for submission. Accounting and reconciliation activities. Contributes to insurance actuarial reserves management, loss engineering and risk control. Internal control framework. Responsible for providing support to the General Insurance business overall or to multiple General Insurance business units. Inputs into the actuarial strategy to ensure alignment of capital management and other reporting metrics. Qualifications Will possess a sound understanding on Insurance policies and business. Must have ability to work effectively under pressure, excellent communication & interpersonal skills and proven problem solving skills. Demonstrated ability to work in a performance driven environment. 5-8 years relevant experience. Experience in actuarial models, insurance reserves calculation for life and P&C, Solvency framework, Finance, solving problems and regulatory framework. Proven Managerial Experience. Supervisory experience is considered a must. Data management, programming, statistics, modelling, related accounting bulletins. A certification from Colegio Nacional de Actuarios (CONAC) is a must (granted or in progress). Education Bachelor's / University degree in Actuarial science. A Master's degree in actuarial science, MBA or Finance is preferred. English as Second Language is required at a medium level as minimum. Actuary graduate from a national university or granted by an International Actuary association like SOA or CAS. Certified by Colegio Nacional de Actuarios (CONAC) as an Actuary for reserve valuation is a must (Life, Annuities, and Accidents and Health). A Master's degree in actuarial science, Finance or MBA is also required.
