Our mission is to empower the world to fight cyber threats by inspiring the Try Harder mindset.**Job Purpose**The Database Engineer will join the software development team in designing and implementing the database operations of our customer-facing, high-traffic, e-commerce web platform.**Duties and responsibilities**- Design stable, reliable, extensible, scalable, practical and high performing databases to support a fast scaling B2C and B2B e-commerce platform- Support and setup high availability and replication for the OLTP & OLAP systems.- Troubleshoot any performance issues, deadlocks, or other production problems.- Provide support to developers with query or DDL enhancements.- Develop and assist with database queries for content releases to the platform.- Assist with various system integrations and migrations as needed, including future EDWs and Data Lakes.- Work with developers to establish best practices- Provide data management support to internal and external users- Ensure all database programs meet or exceed company expectations- Create necessary documentation**Qualifications**- Excellent in database query languages, hands-on experience with MySQL, AWS EC2 services- A self starter, a go getter, a creative and practical problem solver- Hands-on experience with MySQL table design, querying, indexing, and debugging- 3+ years hands-on experience with large-scale e-commerce systems- Experience with Amazon RDS- Experience with data migration from on-prem to a hybrid or cloud- Experience with JSON data best practices and optimization- Strong logical thinker, capable of identifying issues through sound logical derivations- Strong analytical skills, ability to methodically use hypothesis-driven approach to solve problems associated various data issues- Concise and clear written and verbal communications skills- Extremely good with attention to detail- Ability to work well in a fast changing, high growth, early-stage technology environment- Works well with people in different timezones, across cultures**Working conditions**This role is a full-time salaried position. Work hours for this position are flexible and will be performed from a home office.**Physical requirements**The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer screen, extensive reading, and visual inspection involving small defects. This is sedentary work.**Direct reports**This position has no direct reports.
