Staff Engineer

**Location**: Juárez, Nuevo León**Work Mode**: Hybrid**BASIC FUNCTION**Under the functional guidance of the Engineering Manager, the Staff Engineer will manage and execute the development of new faucet and sanitary products and the adaptation and redesign of existing products for introduction into various markets.**SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES**- Manages and executes complex engineering projects involving development of new products and changes to existing products including specification, concept, design, qualification, and verification of products and sub-assemblies.- Creates and maintains product specifications to meet Kohler and regulatory requirements.- Uses engineering tools to ensure robust design of products that meet market needs, cost targets, margin goals, code requirements.- Coordinates engineering activities with other functional areas, remote plants, suppliers, and contractors. Actively and effectively supports local plant activities.- Manages assigned engineers, CAD designers, and support staff which may include test lab technicians, prototype technicians, and other engineering services support staff (e.g., packaging engineering, technical communications).- Travel: Moderate travel to North American and international locations to meet with Kohler team members, guide project execution, and communicate project needs to Kohler and supplier facilities.**SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES****_ Hard Skills_**- Strong Analysis of Design Interfaces thorugh Tolerance Stack Analysis to guarantee design intend.- Moderate use of CREO CAD Software to Model and Inspect 3D files, elaborate Assemblies and 2D Drawings thorugh the use of ASME Y14.5M for GD&T.- Strong Mechanical Design Fundamentals for Manufacturing processes such as Injection Molding, Casting, Machining as well as applied finished such as PVD and Platting.- Very Strong on Design for Variability Applications, such as DFSS, Process Capability (CPK), etc.**_Soft Skills_**- Communication: Uses speaking, writing and listening skills to effectively and candidly share information, express opinions and motivate others to act.- Relationship Building: Successfully establishes and maintains positive relationships with all contacts such as teammates, co-workers, management, suppliers, and customers.- Calculated Risk Taking: Makes appropriate decisions using support tools, accurate data and critical thinking. Monitors and takes appropriate corrective action to achieve project objectives.- Innovation: Generates and implements original, unique, and useful technical solutions to solve problems and meet current and anticipated future customer needs.- Leadership and Mentoring: Mentors staff members and other departments members to achieve and maintain department and corporate goals.- Exhibits and guides direct staff to exhibit behaviors and actions that: Build Trust, Drive Continuous Improvement, Focus on the End Customer and Set High Standards of Performance.- Fluent in verbal and written English.**RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACT*****Supervisory Relationships:- Reports to the Manager-Product Engineering, K&B Mexico.- Supervises Mechanical Project Engineers, Mechanical Engineers or CAD designersOrganization Relationships:- Frequent contact with support functions such as Technical Publications, Product Test Labs, Material Labs, Engineering Model Shop, Codes and Standards, Packaging Engineering and more to assure assigned project execution meets all necessary criteria and business expectations.- Moderate contact with senior management to communicate product design and development issues, resolutions and long term plans as directed.- External Business Relationships: Moderate contact with suppliers to exchange information regarding component status, costs, design and timing.**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering Desirable, Mechatronics can be considered.- Minimum eight to ten years of Mechanical Project Engineering work experience.
