Logistics Specialist

Allyn International is in search of an Entry-Level Logistics Specialist to grow within our Logistics Department in our new office in Monterrey, Mexico located out of San Pedro Garza García. Our core products include transportation management, logistics sourcing, freight forwarding, supply chain consulting, tax management, and trade compliance operational support and consulting.What does a Logistics Specialist do?The Logistics Specialist is responsible for managing logistics activities in a manner that shall meet business fulfillment requirements in parallel with the goal of transportation cost reduction. The position is responsible for collecting and communicating all necessary information related to upcoming and ongoing shipments, projects, and services, as well as providing logistics support, consulting, and obtaining best possible transportation rates.**Position Details**:**Location**: San Pedro Garza García (Monterrey, Mexico)**Position/Classification**: Full-Time; Exempt, Entry level**Compensation**: 320,000 - 380,000 pesos annually**Hours of Work**: Regular business hours, Monday-Friday**Physical Demands**: Sitting, typing, carrying, and climbing stairs**Benefits**:Remote work one day a week, paid 12 weeks maternity/paternity leave, Medical for employees paid for by Allyn, Paid Vacation, Paid Sick Time, Paid Holidays, tuition reimbursement, and moreBilingual skills preferredIssue resolution experienceWritten and verbal communication skillsProblem-solving skillsEffective time management and prioritization skills**Responsibilities**:- Route cargo in accordance with legal and customer requirements including:- cargo characteristics- transport mode- equipment type- service level- least cost- transit time- loading and offloading requirements- Coordinate the routing process including:- using contract rates and least cost whenever possible- obtaining spot quotes for lanes or loads that aren’t contracted- selecting carrier and tendering cargo in accordance with the process- providing carrier, shipper, broker, consignee all pertinent docs and information as required- Issue resolution and shipment responsibility- Training of new employees and clients, if needed- Actively use either Allyn’s ALA software or use the software chosen per the client- Accurately issue shipping documentation such as certificates of origin, customs invoices, packing lists, and certificates of insurance- Reliably track and expedite progress of specialized shipments- Capture all costs associated with a shipment including:- freight cost- detention charges- storage charges if applicable- accessorials- surcharges- demurrage- other charges- Actively look for an capture savings opportunities and added value opportunities when possible- Actively participate in team meetings, conference calls, and daily project management calls with Allyn team and with the client- Department of Transportation (“DOT”) and other transport regulations compliance management, including permitting, over dimensional, and Hazmat- Eliminate or minimize risk exposure for Allyn and customers- Maintain online tracking and metrics tools- Track and resolve freight claims- May be required to participate in industry publication and articles- Provide excellent customer service to Allyn customersOur clients range from small local businesses to Fortune 500 firms in industry sectors such as power generation and renewable energy, road construction equipment, electronics, industrial materials, heavy-duty trucks, mining and drilling equipment, oil and gas, modular building, medical equipment, not for profit, and US government.
