Job Summary

Define and execute a comprehensive occupational health and safety strategy, ensuring a safe and healthy workplace, reducing workplace accidents and incidents, promoting the mitigation of workplace risks, and focusing on increasing effectiveness and efficiency in line with corporate and legal requirements for more than 800 facilities in MX and +8,000 employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the implementation of operational and strategic plans to ensure health and safety in the workplace for 100% of employees in MX, including corporate office and +800 facilities.
  • Develop policies, procedures, and guidelines to establish a robust safety management system that effectively mitigates risks, hazards, and unsafe conditions, in line with internal and external health and safety frameworks and standards, while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Define strategies to identify, monitor, and address safety issues and practices within MX operations, including the implementation of effective action plans to achieve significant cost reductions in risk, severance, and insurance policy payments.
  • Lead programs, projects, and initiatives to improve a safe workplace and ensure compliance with health and safety GSOP, SFF, aligning with local and international standards, legal requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Design and implement a risk management program identifying potential hazards, assessing risks, and conducting regular audits to evaluate compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Design and ensure a comprehensive training program implementation that promotes a strong safety culture and compliance with health and safety standards, practices, and protocols, while fostering safety awareness throughout the organization.
  • Develop an internal audit program for operations facilities, grounds, and administrative areas to effectively monitor and continuously improve health, safety, and environmental practices.
  • Lead the incident investigation program into workplace incidents and accidents to determine root causes, identify effective corrective actions, and prevent recurrence.
  • Lead the implementation of iCare modules in the organization.
  • Monitor safety performance, identifying trends and implementing corrective actions.
  • Manage safety budget and resources effectively to support safety initiatives, including safety equipment and training.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and ensure the organization complies with all relevant safety, occupational health, and environmental regulations.
  • Lead and develop the safety team, providing leadership, guidance, and development opportunities to ensure effective execution of safety initiatives and programs.

Skills & Qualifications :

  • Engineering degree. Master’s degree desirable.
  • More than 6 years of experience in leadership positions in the Safety area in companies of similar size, in some facilities and operational processes.
  • Tested experience with implementation of Mexican standards in international certifications related to health, safety, and environment (NOMS, OHSAS, ISO 45001), and experience in government audits on safety, occupational health, and environment.
