**Job Description Summary**: Responsible for designing, developing and testing Embedded Software (Firmware), platforms and systems that control and runs on devices that need to be tailored to the needs of the hardware that it has to control and run on (i.e. directly controls the real time functions of a physical device such as motors, alternators, engines, valves, fans, and other devices and products). Typically requires a deep understanding of the characteristics of the physical device being controlled, the realtime functions it is expected to perform and the ability to design, develop, implement, and test the logic and software required to realize the realtime functionality. Usually tailored for products and services across various P&Ls. Accountable for the quality of own work. Subject to direct operations supervision/prescribed work instructions/systems checking. Executes within a well-defined operations framework. There is generally a step by step sequence of standard operational tasks which need to be followed to achieve an end result.**Roles and Responsibilities**(Small teams will use this DAW to include all phases of design/Development cycle all the way to Release)- Developing conceptual knowledge of professional discipline. May include support roles with specialized expertise or technical knowledge in broad area.- Applies general knowledge of business developed through education or past experience. Understands how work of own team contributes to the area.- Resolves issues using established procedures. Consults supervisor or more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.- Collaborates with others to solve issues. For customer facing roles, develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE. Exchanges technical information, asks questions and checks for understanding.**Required Qualifications**- This role requires basic experience in the Engineering/Technology & Embedded SW Development. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience).- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in Job Family Group(s)/Function(s)).**Desired Characteristics**- Strong oral and written communication skills.
