**Career Area**:Engineering**:When you join Team Caterpillar as an Design Engineer on the Drivetrain Structures, Casting, Forging (SCF) team you will design, guide and facilitate the development of Drivetrain Axle and Transmission Structural components. The SCF team works to develop collaborative and inspirational relationships among themselves and customers, suppliers and other functional groups to ensure goals are achieved. On the Drivetrain SCF team you will be supporting the majority of the Cat wheeled and tracked machine product used by customers around the world.**Job Duties**:- Design, development and validation of Drivetrain structural components including iron/steel castings, forgings, fabrications and bolted joints.- Application of advanced structural analysis techniques such as linear and non-linear FEA, fracture mechanics based analysis and component life prediction- Support identification & development of World Wide rough material and finish machining supply base.- CPPD and Collaboration with our downstream external supplier partners, Global Supply Network (GSN), Supply Chain (SC), and Internal Operations (Ops), on new and in-flight projects for awareness of the projects and process development for upcoming builds- Manage product cost estimates and track cost changes for your individual projects- Engage in project planning efforts for your projects- Foster collaborative relationships with your peers in SCF and broader Drivetrain team, promote collaboration within Drivetrain, our suppliers, component teams and MBD partners.**Background/Experience**:- Mechanical, Mechatronics, Metallurgical or Aerospace,Engineering Bachelor’s degree- 2 years with Drivetrain or Structural component design assignments- Experience in Concept, Design, Analysis, Detailing and Validation of Component/Machine systems- English language proficiency (speaking, reading, writing)- Proficient in CREO and CREO Simulate or other Parametric Modelling tools- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office products, WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT, OUTLOOK, TEAMS.- Excellent communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills- Strong analytical skills**Desired Qualifications**:- Masters degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Aerospace, Structural, Metallurgy or Mechatronics from an accredited Engineering curriculum.- Experience on Metallurgy or Foundry processes, including Aluminum, Iron and Steel Castings- Prior success in Structural, FEA and bolted joint analysis assignments- Experience with Large/Heavy Structures and/or Fabrications- Machine operation or validation experience, internal or external to Caterpillar- Familiarity with virtual product development tools- Experience with non-traditional structural materials and joining methods- Sourcing and supplier development experience with Casting, Forgings, Metalforming, Machining- Familiarity with product quality processes, APQP, PPAP, etc.- Knowledge of Caterpillar or equivalent Product Development process including experience with NPI, CPI, FMEA, Teamcenter, PRWB, and EDS**The Caterpillar Code of Conduct states that we will select and place employees based on their qualifications for the job to be performed, without regard to race, religion, national origin, color, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age or disability.
