We are looking for a proactive and seasoned Area Group Sales Manager to join our Sales & Marketing team in Mexico, representing Maroma, a Belmond Hotel Riviera Maya, and Casa de Sierra Nevada, a Belmond Hotel San Miguel de Allende. We need a true hospitality expert with the skills to provide top-tier service.

As the Area Group Sales Manager, you will be in charge of creating and executing sales strategies to boost group business revenue for our properties in Mexico.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Achieve group room and catering revenue targets for both hotels in Mexico
  • Personally manage sales group inquiries, create proposals, negotiate, and convert them into confirmed business deals
  • Conduct site visits and showcase the hotel to outshine the competition
  • Ensure adherence to all Belmond programs, standards, and procedures
  • Follow through with group RFP tools like CVent, ensuring regular updates and accurate information
  • Acquire, retain, and expand group business for the hotel. Understand the competitive set and gather market intelligence.
  • Analyze, qualify, negotiate, and prepare proposals, contracts, and addendums in line with hotel availability and demand, maintaining pricing integrity and ensuring high group conversion rates from short and long lead requests
  • Act as a representative for our exceptional meeting spaces, utilizing your knowledge to optimize yield in line with the events department's strategic objectives
  • Develop a client contact database and ensure consistent communication and updates on the hotel's latest news
  • Identify, target, and solicit new group business opportunities in the designated territory
  • Cultivate and nurture strong relationships with key figures in the group travel sector
  • Stay informed about market trends and competitor actions to spot new business prospects and devise strategies to stay ahead in the market
  • Work with the marketing team to craft effective sales materials and promotional initiatives
  • Join industry trade shows, events, and sales missions to showcase our properties and generate new business leads
  • Monitor sales performance and provide regular reports to the senior management team

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in group sales or a similar role within the hospitality industry
  • Prior exposure to managing reactive group sales
  • Proficiency in the reactive sales process
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Strong competitive drive and motivation
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
  • Skill in building and maintaining solid client and industry partner relationships
  • Proficient in both English and Spanish
  • Willingness to travel within the assigned region
  • Ideally, a Bachelor's degree in business, hospitality, or a related field
