Role Purpose

The primary objective of this role is to actively seek and secure B2B examination opportunities within the territory, thereby generating revenue and enhancing the British Council's portfolio of services and products. This role emphasises business development and reporting, as well as account management. The primary focus will be on pursuing new business opportunities in both the private and public education sectors across key states and cities in Mexico. Responsibilities include business planning, monitoring, and collaborating with partners and agents to cultivate and expand business prospects.

Main accountabilities but not limited to the following

Identify and prioritise B2B opportunities in the territory by prospecting and setting appointments with potential stakeholders. Generate new leads through networking/relationship development to convert short-list opportunities. Analyse B2B / B2G needs and ensure customer is kept informed throughout process. Regular reporting and administrative tasks (contract development, due diligence, creation of purchase orders, etc.) for providing internal visibility of sales opportunities. Maintain working relationships with existing B2B clients and agents to ensure that they receive exceptional service and to identify potential additional sales opportunities. Nurture and enhance the existing relationship with key stakeholders for the British Council, such as K12 organisations, Higher Education institutions and language centres in the territory. Provide timely follow up through phone calls, virtual meetings, etc, to both external and internal stakeholders. Ensure administrative documentation for each stakeholder such as compliance, contracts and safeguarding are updated and on track. Carry out routine monitoring and standard reporting on commercial data involving sales, profitability and/or co-funding and sponsorship opportunities using an agreed set of corporate processes, techniques, and report templates. Lead annual business planning with existing stakeholders and support new partners to achieve agreed growth objectives. Collect, report and use Customer/ Market Intelligence from what is seen/heard on the ground and link to Marketing on Insights. In consultation with SBU lead, according to regional and cluster strategy, develop and implement innovations and Business Development plan with realistic targets. Using standard procedures and templates, regularly records, analyse and report on territory plan to ensure agreed quarterly target are met. By analising existing user persona profiles, develop tactics to successfully gain new business in the territory. Maintain an up-to-date overview of British Council products, programmes and services, confidently delivering product presentations to gain and maintain new business. Based on previously agreed territory tactical plans, ensure the effective delivery of marketing branded collaterals, both digital and physical. Contribute to cluster strategy of raising marketing awareness by participating in ELT/Education conferences, meetings and events in the territory Prioritise own work activities, from cluster strategic plans into day-to-day activities. Build relationships and use influence to work with others internally and externally to grow the business. Manage time to ensure compliance to complex internal administrative procedures.

Requirements of the role

Proven experience building and maintaining stakeholder relationships. Experience in Business Development and administration of the sales pipeline. Proven experience in prospecting and generating new leads. Experience negotiating with decision makers. Proven experience meeting sales targets in one or more countries. Experience in administrative processes, such as contract management and compliance. Communication and presentation skills to end user. The British Council systems and global processes operate in English. Written and verbal proficiency in English is required as follows: English language skills to the CEF B1 level. Spanish language skills to the CEF C1 level. Degree in Business Administration, Management of International Relations, Marketing and advertising, Education, or a related subject; or relevant qualification.
