Import – Export department purpose is to deliver shipments and certificates of origin on time, in the right place, at appropriate cost in compliance with applicable regulations for TLG companies in Mexico to support TLG strategy.

Current companies supported are Constructional Toys production site, molds production site, a real estate company, sales company and e-commerce operations.

This position is key to secure that Distribution Centers and other Foreign Manufacturing sites receives the export shipment in the needed service levels and to secure compliant operations in the specific traffic & appointed customs.

Core Responsibilities:

  • The purpose of this position is to secure Export Shipments on time delivery in compliance with applicable regulations & LEGO Group Policies, in the right place, within the right cost as part of daily execution, trough effective communication with internal & external stakeholders and functional knowledge having in mind customer needs. This allows the business to deliver Finished Good Product to the Distribution Centers and/or to other Production Sites what is needed from LOM continue their production. The responsibility per Specialist in the department splits according with the specific traffic and Customs assigned.
  • Own the daily transport operation with an End-to-End mindset, from forecast, booking, export process to delivery, adhering to Roles & Responsibilities between Business Units, according with agreed INCOTERM through right coordination and instructions, securing shipments delivery in the right place, time and cost.
  • Coordinate the export operation with US and/or MX Customs Brokers, providing accurate instructions to maintain operation on time and aligned with regulations and policies.
  • For the export from LOM to US, secure that operations carried out through in-house MX Customs Broker are performed in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Maintain at all times working systems and tools updated with correct data, ensure information transferred to Mexican Customs & Customs Brokers is accurate, through adherence to processes securing high compliance standards and Brand Protection.
  • Build and maintain Processes and User Guides and keep it up to date as regulatory changes are published and digital platforms are updated or implemented to secure long term compliance (critical to maintain LOM Customs Certifications such AEO, CTPAT, IMMEX, VAT Certification, etc.) and Safety Quality Delivery & Cost adherence.
  • Utilize a risk-based thinking on a daily basis for the assigned operation to identify, inform and take action upon risks until its mitigation. Depending on the risk, escalate when is needed to the Export Manger Specialist, and Import-Export Director.
  • Improve proactively processes, through proposing improvement ideas, doing questions, testing assumptions, growing use of software solutions and Mapping methodology with a mindset of simplification, to prevent errors and at the same time maintaining or even increasing quality on deliverables.
  • Maintain IMS compliance by securing consistency in processes and procedures, keeping a systematic way of working and embed in the daily operation the LCI way of working.
  • Be ready to act as back up in other positions in the department to ensure that operations continuity.

Do you have what it takes?

  • Bachelor's degree in foreign Trade and Customs, Internacional Commerce or similar.
  • Certifications in Customs Compliance and related regulation such AEO, IVA-IEPS, International Trade Rules.
  • Desirable certified in CTPAT and AEO as auditor or with field training plus theoretical knowledge
  • English fluent level
  • 5 years' experience working in IMMEX and AEO companies in similar position. Preferable also VAT-IEPS certified companies.
  • Or, 5 years' experience working in Mexican Customs brokers agencies coordinating import – export shipments.
  • Knowledge of Mexican International Trade Law, Mexican Customs Law, Customs Rules, General Rules, Free Trade Agreements, and benefits, AEO, CTPAT, VAT-IEPS Certification.
  • Use of annex 24 software and use of SAP or equivalent.
  • Understanding of transport modes, port/airport terminal free time storage, and detentions/demurrages concepts.
  • Ability to organize and synthetize information, to facilitate prioritization of activities.
  • A 'can do'-attitude to ensure things are acted upon in a changing trade/transportation environment.
  • Team player - while ability to work independently as well.
  • Communication and follow-through skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
