**Responsibilities**:
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background and the internship period. Duties may include:

- Collection, evaluation, interpretation, and analysis of statistics and qualitative information obtained from a variety of sources with special focus on energy and natural resources issues, particularly in the ECLAC Mexico sub-region (Central America, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Mexico).
- Maintenance of statistical databases and organization of non-quantitative information.
- Preparation of briefing notes, inputs to first drafts of analytical studies and similar material with special focus on energy and natural resources issues.
- Compilation and analysis of data and other information necessary for analytical studies and the preparation of project proposals with special focus on energy and natural resources issues.

Education

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
(a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or,

(b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent).
- For this internship, studies in engineering, economics, public policy, energy, natural resources, environmental studies, or related areas are desirable.

Work Experience

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; and Spanish is a working language of ECLAC.

For the position advertised, fluency in Spanish and knowledge of English is required.

Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

NOTE: ''Fluency'' equals a rating of ''fluent'' in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and ''Knowledge of'' equals a rating of ''confident'' in two of the four areas.
