**Responsibilities**:
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background and the internship period. Duties may include:

- Collects, evaluates, interprets and analysis specified statistics and qualitative socioeconomic information obtained from a variety of sources and pertaining to macroeconomics and development economics, in particular to ECLAC Mexico subregion.
- Maintains datasets and programmes for database management and organizes non-quantitative information.
- Assists in the design, testing, operation, and modification of econometric models.
- Prepares briefing notes, inputs to first draft of analytical studies and similar material on macroeconomics and development economics, in a form that is meaningful to non-specialist;
- Compiles and analyses the data and other information necessary for the preparation of technical cooperation project proposal in the area of macroeconomics and development economics.

Education
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
(a) Be enrolled in, or recently have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher, i.e. Master´s or equivalent, Ph.D. or post-graduate degree); or,
(b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent),

Job - Specific Qualification
For this internship, be computer literate in standard statistics software packages, i.e. Stata or R is desirable.

Work Experience

For this internship, experience using software (Stata or R) to support statistical analysis of datasets is desirable.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.

Fluency in Spanish (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language would be an asset.

NOTE: “Fluency” equals a rating of ''fluent'' in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and ¨knowledge of¨ equals a rating of ''confident'' in two of the four areas.
