Job Summary

This role is a critical component of Carestream Health's procurement initiatives, supporting the company's strategic objectives. The Commodity Specialist will deliver value across assigned commodity categories by performing sourcing, negotiation, and contract activities. The successful candidate will partner with internal clients to analyze and rationalize technology and professional service deals, providing commodity management services to the Latin America Region and direct materials support to the Guadalajara factory, with additional USA assignments as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Sourcing:

  • Utilize expertise in Strategic Sourcing, Commodity & Category Management, Supply Chain Management, Procurement Market Analysis, Commercial Terms & Conditions, and OEM Manufacturing to drive sourcing initiatives.
  • Align with internal clients to generate and evaluate RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, SOWs, and other procurement documents.
  • Negotiate pricing and terms, write confidentiality agreements, supply agreements, consignment agreements, termination letters, and other contract documents for assigned commodity categories.
  • Define and establish the strategic sourcing process, including marketplace or benchmark analysis, understanding index and feedstock pricing, e-auction, bundling, and supplier identification.
  • Work with internal clients to drive electronic auctions where possible.
  • Negotiate and manage payment terms to the corporate net 60-day standard, ensuring suppliers are paid timely and intervening to resolve payment delays promptly.
  • Manage domestic and international suppliers and supply chains, understanding global logistics markets to enable efficient and cost-effective movement of purchased or produced items.

Client & Vendor Relationships:

  • Work effectively with internal clients and external supplier personnel at all levels, including senior management.
  • Translate client objectives and requirements into actionable sourcing plans, integrating them into purchasing strategies.
  • Build strong supplier relationships, manage supplier assessment, implement and monitor ongoing supplier key performance indicators (KPIs) and supplier scorecards, driving ongoing cost reductions and continuous improvements.
  • Document and manage supplier spend, supplier cost, delivery, and quality targets using established commodity strategies, tracking and reporting spend, savings, productivity, and achievements on a monthly/annual basis.
  • Report supply issues timely and escalate as needed.
  • Establish Business Resumption Plans (BRPs) with key suppliers for hardware and logistics-related commodities, serving as the collective agreement on how the supplier would provide non-interrupted services to CSH.

Analytical:

  • Identify and evaluate suppliers based on capabilities, financial stability, reputation, compliance to regulations, and cost, quality, delivery, and risk track record.
  • Plan, organize, and analyze data to enable decision-making or build recommendations on sourcing strategies with implications for vendor selection, including Total Cost of Ownership analysis.
  • Analyze and solve problems important to the company's success.

Requirements:

  • B.S. in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or Finance or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years procurement, sourcing, or commodity management experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in indirect commodity categories, including marketing, benefits, logistics, warehousing and transportation, professional services, travel, fleet, contract labor, IT/IS/telecom, OEM, capital, non-capital services, and maintenance repair operations (MRO), real estate, and direct materials packaging procurement.
  • Must be bi-lingual English and Spanish.
  • Travel as required, with the ability to obtain a passport and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Effective computer skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc., with experience utilizing an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, SAP/Ariba preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and presentation skills, and the proven ability to influence and communicate effectively.
  • Sensitivity to different cultures and global country practices.
  • Business and financial acumen, ability to function as a business partner through teaming, with the ability to motivate, influence, and drive change in a collaborative and effective way.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in a medical device manufacturing environment (or similar highly regulated industry), familiarity with Federal Drug Administration (FDA) Supplier Controls a plus.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 & 13485 a plus.
  • Six-sigma (green, brown, or black belt), or equivalent a plus.
  • Professional purchasing or supply chain certifications a plus.
  • Eventually able to travel.
