This Role

PayJoy Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Risk Manager to scale our point of sale phone finance lending portfolio in Mexico, LATAM, and other global markets. The ideal candidate will be ambitious, self-driven, and data-driven, with a passion for making a significant impact at a fast-growing fintech company. They will be deeply motivated by PayJoy's mission to bring finance to the next billion.

As a Risk Manager, you will be responsible for one or more of our portfolios. You will leverage our data warehouse to build analysis, policy recommendations, and dashboards that optimize risk outcomes across LATAM countries. Your focus will be on defining actionable next steps to improve product profitability and risk KPIs, while maintaining a laser focus on PayJoy's mission. You will work closely with and provide data leadership for various teams, including the Executive Team, Product, Engineering, and Go-to-Market teams. Additionally, you will be in charge of the day-to-day operations of our Brazil Portfolio and the relationship with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize SQL and R or Python to extract and manipulate data that underpins your recommendations, driving data-driven decision-making.
  • Develop actionable recommendations to improve outcomes based on data analysis and a deep understanding of our product.
  • Collaborate with the Data Science Team to implement machine learning and artificial intelligence models that optimize portfolio outcomes.
  • Design, implement, and monitor A/B tests with the product and marketing team to enhance our product and reach more customers.
  • Write clear and concise documentation that explains your recommendations.
  • Own risk KPIs for one or more portfolios.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in risk management functions in fintech or commercial banking.
  • Strong general analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Mastery of SQL, proficiency in Python or R.
  • Understanding of statistical tools and methods, and experience working with large data sets.
