About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join Informa Markets México as a Cash Application Specialist. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our cash application processes, working closely with internal departments and external stakeholders to resolve payment-related inquiries and discrepancies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cash Application
    • Process bank statements and update matching rules within the system when applicable
    • Perform standard cash allocations
    • Allocate unallocated payments to appropriate systems
    • Allocate and reconcile funds pertaining to Agent Order Files
    • Resolve queries from internal and external customers
    • Action refund payments by appropriate method
  • Reconciliation
    • Reconcile daily cash receipts to bank statements and resolve any discrepancies
    • Investigate and resolve unapplied, unidentified, or misapplied payments promptly
    • Investigate and resolve all reconciling items identified in the reconciliation process
    • Reconcile associated General Ledger
    • Reconcile Oracle, bank postings and MCAS daily where appropriate
    • Prepare bank reconciliations for all bank accounts controlled by the SSC
    • Prepare reconciliations for all credit card and petty cash balance sheet accounts where applicable
  • Data Accuracy
    • Verify and update customer account information as necessary
  • Communication
    • Collaborate with internal teams, including accounts receivable and customer service, to address and resolve payment-related inquiries
    • Provide clear and timely communication and liaison to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Research and Issue Resolution
    • Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies and issues, working closely with customers and internal departments
    • Ensure timely resolution of unapplied or unidentified cash
  • Process Improvement
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement changes that enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Reporting
    • Contribute to financial reporting by providing accurate and up-to-date cash-related information
    • Prepare reporting on cash movements to assist cash-flow analysis where applicable
    • Prepare reporting credit balances
  • Compliance
    • Stay informed about relevant regulations and compliance requirements
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Skills and Abilities
    • Good communication skills with the ability to build good relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, internal departments and key contacts
    • Proficient skills in Excel, Word and Outlook are essential
    • Languages: English - intermediate, Spanish - Fluent
    • Remain approachable under pressure
    • Knowledge and ability to use relevant internal systems
    • Act with integrity, tact and diplomacy

    • Ability to complete a variety of related tasks

  • Knowledge and Qualifications
    • Good knowledge and understanding of Cash Applications processes within specific area of expertise:
    • Queries & Allocations
    • Cash Processing and Reconciliations
    • Best practice in Cash Operations
    • A thorough knowledge of Oracle system preferable
