PeopleConquest RH is engaged in the recruitment process for a prominent river cruise line in Europe.
POSITION SUMMARY – HOUSEKEEPER
The primary objective of this role is to deliver exceptional and personalized housekeeping services to guests at all times. This encompasses maintaining high standards of cleanliness in guest staterooms and public areas while ensuring outstanding customer service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the complete housekeeping operations onboard.
- Conduct inspections to ensure cleanliness of all staterooms and communal areas.
- Monitor and follow up on maintenance requests.
- Manage the receipt and distribution of guest laundry.
- Control and return of uniforms for the cruise line staff.
- Facilitate smooth operations during embarkation days.
- Maintain impeccable cleanliness and organization within the housekeeping department.
- Assist with stateroom cleaning and laundry duties as required.
- Adhere to company standards and HACCP regulations in all procedures.
- Ensure regular care and maintenance of onboard plants and flowers.
- Prepare daily programs for distribution and organize gift orders and turndown services.
- Assist in the preparation for the opening and closing of ships at the beginning and end of the season.
- Lead and motivate the housekeeping team.
- Conduct training sessions for housekeeping staff.
- Supervise the housekeeping team and their responsibilities.
- Administer performance reviews for team members.
- Step in as Stateroom Steward/ess during absences or operational needs.
- Implement infection control and outbreak prevention measures.
- Participate in the loading and proper stocking of supplies.
- Manage cost control and adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Order stock and cleaning supplies in collaboration with the Hotel Manager.
- Ensure proper storage of supplies and establish par levels.
- Conduct inventory according to company procedures.
- Lead the departmental daily meetings.
- Address guest complaints promptly or escalate to the appropriate department.
- Assist in Guest Services as directed by management.
- Exhibit strong interpersonal skills to effectively handle customer interactions.
TEAMWORK AND COMMUNICATION
Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling and maintain a positive attitude even under pressure. Foster excellent communication with other departments, particularly Guest Services, Maintenance, and Food & Beverage.
PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
Strive to meet and exceed departmental KPI goals as a cohesive housekeeping team.
PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE
Develop comprehensive knowledge of all itinerary-related ports of call and shore excursions, as well as the daily program.
SECURITY AND SAFETY
Possess thorough knowledge of safety and security protocols, participating in all required training sessions.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- High School Diploma; Hospitality degree (BA, MBA) preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role within an upscale cruise line or hotel.
- Excellent English communication skills, with a focus on service and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle confidential information discreetly.
- Maintain impeccable grooming and hygiene standards.
- Capable of extensive walking and standing for prolonged periods.
- Adaptable to varying hours based on operational needs.
- Exhibit a guest-focused, service-oriented attitude with a professional appearance.
- Demonstrate flexibility, resilience under stress, and a commitment to teamwork.
