About the Role

As an Executive Design Director at Marriott International, you will have the opportunity to lead design on projects across managed, franchised and company-owned hotels. This role is critical in ensuring quality control, brand compliance, operational acceptability and adherence.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage services to scheduled deliverables and oversee the entire project lifecycle.
  • Supervise, direct, motivate and train assigned staff to achieve high-quality results.
  • Collaborate with design consultants, manage their proposals, contracts and invoicing to meet project objectives.
  • Develop and maintain proper organizational structure, staff selection, performance management, salary administration, career planning, and staff budget.
  • Document, maintain, administer and improve processes for delivering services.
  • Select and develop building products relevant to brand specifications and ensure they align with project goals.
  • C coordinate Criteria/Facilities programs for assigned projects and facilitate communication among stakeholders.
  • Negotiate project terms with external customers and provide information, interpretation and guidance daily to outside owners/franchisees and internal/design/construction staff.
  • Manage project communication to owners, franchisees, internal project stakeholders and disciplines.
  • Participate in site visit/market survey to gain a deeper understanding of site/market demands.
  • Contribute to the creation of the project budget and manage to that project budget.
  • Champion region-specific initiatives alone or in tandem with peers depending on growth and region needs.
  • Maintain liaison with all appropriate divisions and departments.
  • Provide project updates using tools to track and report status.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A 4-year degree in Architecture or related design discipline preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years progressive experience in architecture at a design firm for large commercial or hospitality projects.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Interior Design license preferred.
  • Minimum requirement of 10 years in the Hospitality sector.
  • Minimum requirement of 5 years in the Hospitality (commercial) Luxury segment.
  • Bi-literate in Spanish is required, Portuguese speaking a plus.
