Network Operations Level 1 Network & Security Support Engineer

Global Business Support (GBS) is a key player in ENGIE's support functions, providing expertise in finance, procurement, consulting, real estate, human resources, IT, and legal. As a trusted partner of the Group's operating entities, GBS aims to be the reference operator for ENGIE's support functions.

Purpose of the Position

The Network and Cybersecurity Services (NCS) division of GBS IT is responsible for ensuring the performance and security of ENGIE's network and security infrastructures. The Network Operations Center (NOC) is the operational hub for these infrastructures, comprising over 40 professionals. The NOC is structured into two teams: the NOC Back Office, which focuses on day-to-day operations, and the NOC Front Office, which provides support and industrialization services.

The Level 1 Network and Security Support Engineer will be part of the NOC Back Office team, working between the transverse supervision/monitoring team and NOC Level 2 and Level 3 engineers. This role involves resolving incidents and implementing basic changes, with a focus on improving the quality of information in incident tickets and working with the monitoring team to enhance data quality.

Responsibilities and Job Functions

  • Improve the quality of information in incident tickets by ensuring that necessary information is included and that priority levels are accurately assessed.
  • Link multiple incidents together when a common root cause is identified.
  • Perform initial technical analysis of device status and ensure that critical alarms are linked to active incident tickets.
  • Handle major and minor alerts, creating new incident tickets as necessary and escalating to Level 2 or Level 3 when required.
  • Manage maintenance status in monitoring tools during changes implementation.
  • Collaborate with the network tooling team to improve monitoring quality.
  • Implement basic changes based on Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensure day-to-day communication between the NOC team and local IT teams of ENGIE entities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Advanced English language skills.

Technical Skills

  • Basic knowledge of network fundamentals, including IP addressing, routing, and network device operations.
  • Experience with monitoring tools, such as Spectrum, Cacti, and Syslog.
  • Cisco LAN, Wi-Fi, and basic operations.
  • Fortinet, basic operations.
  • DNS and DHCP basic operations.
  • ITIL standards.
