Job Overview

The Sales Engineer for Automation Solutions plays a vital role within the Global Automation sales division, primarily focused on enhancing profitable growth and expanding market presence across designated regions. Collaborating with key stakeholders, this position is tasked with selling the comprehensive automation product range to current clients, while also identifying and nurturing new direct and indirect sales opportunities. The goal is to ensure sustainable growth and deliver an exceptional customer experience, maintaining full transparency and accountability throughout the sales process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Propel margin growth, increase sales, and leverage technical product advantages to capture market share and stimulate demand on a global scale.
  • Formulate and uphold strategic product plans for the portfolio within the Equipment Solutions Group.
  • Assess and interpret current performance metrics, portfolio health, market demands, trends, and other relevant data.
  • Spearhead the development of product roadmaps, manage the lifecycle of the portfolio, and establish targets to enhance product offerings.
  • Create and oversee promotional, digital, and social media initiatives for existing products and new launches.
  • Track and develop growth strategies and channel expansion.
  • Manage a substantial end-user conversion pipeline.
  • Conduct customer feedback interviews with end users, distributors, and regional product managers to map market trends.
  • Analyze incoming feature requests and customer requirements, translating data into actionable business cases.
  • Oversee feature requests throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring profitability in service delivery.
  • Collaborate with R&D teams to define product specifications, including design, functionality, cost, quality, packaging, documentation, and pricing, ensuring timely launches from concept to market.
  • Partner with marketing to strategize and execute product launches, including technical documentation and promotional materials.
  • Work with supply chain and production teams to guarantee regional product availability and assist in forecasting and supply/demand planning.
  • Engage in knowledge sharing across the organization, gathering insights from trade shows, customer meetings, and benchmarking activities.
  • Exhibit the ability to work effectively across diverse cultures within and outside the organization.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Additional language proficiency is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated success in complex B2B sales, ideally within the automation sector, with a minimum of 3 years' experience in sales.
  • Bachelor's degree in technology, engineering, or business administration from an accredited institution.
  • At least 3 years of experience in welding or a related heavy industry.
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid technical understanding and the ability to articulate automation solutions.
  • Proven experience in developing marketing and market entry strategies.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Skilled in conducting customer feedback research.
  • Familiarity with business finance concepts (e.g., product costs, pricing, transportation, tariffs).
  • Ability to think strategically and analyze the impact of various scenarios on existing products and platforms.
  • Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Willingness to travel globally up to 25% of the time.
