Sales Engineer for Automation Solutions

Position Overview
The Sales Engineer for Automation Solutions plays a vital role within the Global Automation sales division, focusing on enhancing profitability and expanding market presence in designated regions. Collaborating with key stakeholders, this position entails promoting the complete automation product line to current clients, discovering and nurturing new sales avenues, ensuring sustainable growth, and delivering exceptional customer satisfaction while maintaining full transparency and accountability throughout the sales process.
Key Responsibilities
- Propel margin growth, sales increase, and leverage technical product benefits for global market share enhancement.
- Formulate and uphold comprehensive product strategies for the Equipment Solutions Group portfolio.
- Assess and interpret current performance metrics, portfolio vitality, market demands, trends, and other relevant data.
- Spearhead the development of product roadmaps, manage the lifecycle of the portfolio, and establish objectives to enhance product offerings.
- Create and implement promotional, digital, and social media initiatives for existing products and new launches.
- Monitor and facilitate growth opportunities and channel expansion.
- Manage a substantial end-user conversion pipeline.
- Conduct voice of customer (VOC) interviews with end users, distributors, and internal teams to identify trends.
- Analyze incoming feature requests and customer requirements, translating insights into actionable business cases.
- Oversee feature requests throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring profitability on service costs.
- Collaborate with R&D teams to define product specifications, including design, functionality, cost, quality, packaging, documentation, and pricing, ensuring timely launches.
- Partner with marketing teams to plan and execute product introductions, including technical documentation and promotional materials.
- Work alongside supply chain and production teams to guarantee regional product availability and assist in forecasting and planning.
- Engage in knowledge sharing across the organization, incorporating insights from trade shows, customer meetings, and benchmarking activities.
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively across diverse cultures within and outside the organization.
Qualifications
- Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking); knowledge of an additional language is advantageous.
- Proven experience in complex B2B sales, ideally within the automation sector, with a minimum of 3 years in sales roles.
- Bachelor's degree in technology, engineering, or business administration from an accredited institution.
- At least 3 years of experience in welding or a related heavy industry.
- Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
- Solid technical understanding and the ability to articulate automation solutions.
- Demonstrated experience in developing marketing and market entry strategies.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Skilled in conducting voice of customer (VOC) research.
- Familiarity with business finance concepts, including product costs, pricing, and logistics.
- Ability to think strategically and assess the implications of various scenarios on existing products.
- Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
- Willingness to travel globally up to 25% of the time.
