Drive Patient Care in Rare Diseases

The Rare Diseases Business Development Specialist plays a pivotal role in driving patient care and market development for SMA. The primary responsibility is to create territory, account, and customer strategies to achieve area sales, market share, and profit targets. This involves effectively maintaining relationships with physicians and treatment clinics to educate on SPINRAZA and remove barriers.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide information to management to help identify, segment, profile, and define national key accounts – e.g., Hospitals, purchase groups, guideline providers etc.
  • Establish clinical value of SPINRAZA, instilling a sense of urgency to treat SMA.
  • E nsure logistics are in place to administer SPINRAZA.
  • Build individual - cross functional - strategic account plans to approach customers, improve standard of care, remove barriers, and maintain relationships to maximize quality SMA care with SPINRAZA.
  • Partner with the market access, marketing, and medical teams to support territory activities and provide expert support as needed.
  • B uild up, strengthen, and ensure long-term customer relationships with the accounts' key stakeholders responsible for SMA care delivery and funding of treatment. Achieve intimate knowledge of the accounts stakeholders' priorities and decision-making processes (patient flow identification/selection, choice of therapeutic options, budget allocation, and care coordination, business needs).
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess 4+ years of commercial or field medical experience in a multinational pharmaceutical/biotech company. Experience in rare diseases is preferred. Pricing policies and healthcare system knowledge are highly desirable. A high degree of learning agility to learn/understand SPINRAZA administration and neuromuscular diseases is essential, along with the ability to deal with ambiguity and handle risk and uncertainty. The candidate must have experience working in a commercial team that was part of a multifunctional team to address patient/caregiver needs, ideally in leading cross-functional field teams. Comfortable spending >50-60% of their time traveling.

Education:

A Bachelor's degree in Science and/or business administration, economy, or related fields is required. A Master's degree is desirable. English language proficiency at an advanced level (reading) and intermediate speaking level is expected.

Salary and Benefits:

This role offers a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on location and experience.
