Senior Buyer- Program Job Description

ZF Friedrichshafen AG is seeking a highly skilled Senior Buyer- Program to join our team in Monterrey, Mexico.

Job Summary:

The Senior Buyer- Program will serve as the functional expert for all purchasing activities related to a defined program, responsible for managing Bill of Material cost, developing cost-saving methods, and promoting overall business unit productivity and supplier competitiveness.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage Bill of Material cost for a program or set of parts within a program, developing cost-saving methods and opportunities to promote overall business unit productivity and supplier competitiveness.
  • Prepare and support Commodity for contract and sourcing negotiations, analyzing North American supply base to recommend suppliers for the approved supplier list and Strategic Supplier List.
  • Perform market research and monitor changes/trends for purposes of benchmarking and cost controlling, developing part family strategies in concert with commodity strategies.
  • Manage supply base, investigating optimal suppliers for materials in a timely manner through the effective use of industry techniques, procedures, and planning methods, while complying with ZF company policy.
  • Track costs and statuses of negotiations, maintaining agreements with suppliers, and exploring methods/materials for total cost management and cost structure analysis.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Economics, or related field.
  • 3+ years of advanced experience in a professional purchasing capacity, including technical/commodity purchasing, purchasing project management, purchasing management, and supplier analysis and evaluation.
  • Experience with supplier bidding process and complex negotiations, APQP, and project management tools and methods.
  • Deep knowledge of purchasing tools, negotiation methods, and business communications, as well as assigned commodity and related commodity market.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and experience with SAP.
