Summary:

Aptiv is seeking an Engineering Team Manager for its Advanced Safety and User Experience products. You will be building and working with a team of highly motivated individuals that work on various automotive technologies to enhance driver experience, prevent accidents, and save lives.

In this role, you will lead a team to design, develop, and validate new products and technology such that capability, cost, and quality satisfy the customer requirements. You will identify the key skills required for each of the roles and level needed within your team. You will ensure that the skill gaps are immediately addressed through formal and on-the-job training, internal transfers, or external hiring.

Responsibilities:

  • Seek and hire top talent, motivated, and engaged employees that display behavioral traits aligned with company and competency values and goals
  • Establish a structured onboarding process that is consistent and adjustable to the skillset and experience of the new hire
  • Manage people performance and provide coaching/mentoring guidance as needed
  • Ensure development opportunities are defined and available for all team members
  • Participate in talent review sessions
  • Acknowledge team success; reward and promote team members based on contributions
  • Provide input to staffing planning to support new contracts and organizational adjustments
  • Manage the engineering team to ensure that proper planning and execution plans are in place meet program requirements; drive solutions
  • Stay connected with team members to maintain a deep understanding and progress of work

Must Haves (Basic Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (computer science, software, systems, or related field of study)
  • 5+ years professional experience in the Automotive Industry or Consumer Electronics
  • 3+ years management experience
  • Bi-lingual – proficient in English speaking/reading/writing
  • Interpersonal skills, strong analytical skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and a positive approach to challenge
  • Cross-functional interests, ambitious, and self-driven. Adaptive, comfortable with ambiguity
  • Ability to effectively manage several projects at once
  • Strong soft skills: skilled networking creation, influencing skills, constantly learning, positive, and ownership profile

Nice to Haves (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Master's degree in an engineering discipline (computer science, software, systems, or related field of study)
  • Exhibit advanced professional interest in people management, with particular focus on employee recruitment, coaching, and development
  • Ability and courage to conduct critical conversations
  • Ability to establish goals, monitor goal progress, and provide developmental feedback
  • Ability to work in complex, matrix organizations
  • Ability to work in an international, fast-paced environment

  • Knowledge and use of visualizations and metrics dashboards to convey key messages
  • Familiarity with Automotive SPICE
  • Experience with Autonomous Driving Active Safety
  • Experience with vehicle protocols and diagnostics - CAN, LIN, Flex Ray, Ethernet
