Procurement Project Manager

Daily Responsibilities:

This role involves the integration of procurement management processes and project teams during the initial sales phase. You will coordinate procurement activities within a project to ensure optimal resource deployment. Your focus will be on implementing procurement strategies that enhance project outcomes, ensuring the timely availability of goods and services while adhering to quality and budget constraints. This includes sourcing, assessing, and engaging suppliers, which may require site visits to their facilities. You will also ensure compliance with mandatory procurement processes and regulations.

Key Contributions:

  • Act as a key member of a regional procurement team, providing Project Procurement Management (PPM) support for demands within the Siemens Energy Service Controls & Digitalization organization across North America.
  • Lead business projects, managing all sourcing requirements from project initiation through to delivery and installation as the designated PPM.
  • Source and evaluate suppliers, closely examining their quality and processes, which may involve travel to their manufacturing sites (20-30% travel may be necessary).
  • Establish sourcing protocols, oversee all procurement activities within the project, and communicate effectively with the team to achieve optimal business impact, including procurement planning and target costing related to budget, availability, delivery timelines, and quality.
  • Analyze supply scope, contractual obligations, and thoroughly understand customer functional needs. Identify procurement risks, opportunities, potential changes, claims, and market dynamics throughout the project, collaborating with Project Management, Commercial teams, and Global Commodity Management to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.
  • Prepare bids and contribute to increasing hit rates by supporting project calculations with reliable and current cost data based on Total Cost of Ownership (ToCO), including supplier innovations that enhance Siemens' cost position and customer benefits.
  • Develop procurement strategies for assigned projects in alignment with organizational procurement strategies, ensuring effective implementation through pooling or utilization of master contracts. Provide negotiation recommendations in collaboration with Commodity Management to prepare for supplier negotiations.
  • Lead contractual and pricing negotiations or support assigned buyers in securing project targets under optimal conditions. Serve as a lead buyer for specific and complex purchasing needs.
  • Ensure that significant procurement risks, changes to the original supply scope, and potential claims are addressed in valid contracts, safeguarding against risk exposure.
  • Maintain proactive visibility regarding the availability of materials, parts, and resources, alerting stakeholders early in case of deviations. Clarify internal indicators for project control and compile relevant information for qualified reporting to the project team and procurement management.
  • Systematically share all pertinent procurement-related project information to keep all project participants and relevant cross-functional partners informed. Conduct lessons learned sessions and raise awareness among cross-functional partners regarding procurement practices, processes, and metrics.
  • Define and implement projects aimed at achieving key performance indicators (CNI, Payment Terms, CTG, GVS, e-Rfx/auctions, etc.).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or high school diploma with relevant experience.
  • Over 5 years of experience in the energy sector, including 4-6 years in supply chain management.
  • Proven track record as a transformative leader, collaborator, and change agent capable of delivering results.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills across functional departments and with external suppliers.
  • Fluency in English is required.
