About the Role

Amazon is seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager to lead our public policy efforts in Mexico. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and executing advocacy strategies and policy initiatives to support AWS' public policy priorities in the country.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead advocacy strategies and policy initiatives to support AWS' public policy priorities in Mexico.
  • Work with experts across Amazon's public policy, business, and legal teams to analyze, manage, and coordinate policy issues at the federal, state, and local levels in Mexico.
  • Support AWS' infrastructure investments in Mexico and manage engagements with trade associations, think-tanks, advocacy groups, consultants, and other relevant external stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute strategic public affairs objectives for engagement on AWS business and policy priorities at all levels of government to support our growing business in Mexico.
  • Lead government outreach and establish relationships with national, state, and local policymakers, public officials, and other relevant stakeholders across the region.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and an advanced degree are required, preferably in a relevant discipline (e.g., Law, Political Science, Economics, International Relations, Public Policy, Engineering, and a JD/LL.B or Master's degree preferred).
  • 10 or more years of experience in government or corporate public policy, preferably in the ICT industry, in Mexico.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish, spoken and written, is also required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Expert knowledge of the policy making process in Mexico and knowledge of the country, including the mechanics of legislative policymaking process and procedures, effective advocacy techniques, and collaboration with businesses, customers, and trade groups.
  • Highly effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at all corporate and political levels.
  • Maintain highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality, and integrity, with strongest professional reputation in the industry.
  • Self-starter who can take general direction and produce specific results.
  • Ability to identify and understand key technical aspects pertaining to corporate operations in legislative and regulatory proposals, understand business implications, and synthesize policy documents for internal and external customers.
