Position Summary

The Telecommunications Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing standards for telecommunication systems, including fiber optics, energy solutions, VHF communications, and structured cabling. This role plays a crucial part in both ongoing and new projects, ensuring that all team members work towards the objectives set by the Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert consultancy on standards related to voice and data networks, focusing on structured cabling, fiber optics, energy systems, and rack distribution.
  • Advise on energy quality standards necessary for powering AC/DC equipment, including emergency power systems and solar energy solutions.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools to identify and resolve faults in various communication methods.
  • Exemplify KCS's vision and values in all interactions with colleagues, business partners, customers, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, preferably in a relevant field.
  • A minimum of two years of professional experience in telecommunications or a related area.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license as per regional requirements.

Preferred:

  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
  • Availability for after-hours and weekend responsibilities.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage time and resources effectively.
  • Ability to understand project objectives thoroughly and collaborate with team members.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective teamwork.

Working Conditions

  • Conduct regular site visits and coordinate with telecommunications operations personnel.
  • Oversee contractors and subcontractors to ensure quality work.
  • Engage with various organizational departments to facilitate project completion with minimal disruption.
  • This position typically follows a Monday to Friday schedule, with occasional after-hours or weekend work required.
  • Minimal travel may be necessary, up to 10% of the time.
