We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Screener to join our team at CSL Plasma Inc. As a Medical Screener, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our donors by conducting thorough medical screenings and registration procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Donor Registration and Screening
- Conduct thorough medical screenings and registration procedures to verify donor suitability for the plasma pheresis process.
- Assist qualified donors in completing the screening process, including assessing self-administered health history and answering basic medical questions.
- Refer donors to medical staff when necessary and perform health screening procedures such as blood pressure, pulse, weight, and temperature.
- Donor Education and Support
- Upon completion of training, educate new donors on the use of therapeutic products made from donated plasma.
- Explain the screening process, health screening tests performed, appointment system, donation fees, center policies, and proper nutrition to donors.
- Administrative Tasks
- Register applicants and transfer donors based on operational needs of the center.
- Answer telephone calls and respond to donor inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Quality and Safety
- Maintain alertness and awareness to any reaction by a donor during or after the pheresis process and notify appropriate staff.
- Alert Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
- Ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system.
- Confidentiality and Compliance
- Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
- Understand and comply with all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures.
- Continuous Improvement
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Contribute to process improvements and suggest innovative solutions to enhance donor experience and center operations.
- Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience
- Minimum of three (3) months experience in a clerical or customer service-related position, preferably in a medical or health provider environment.
- Skills and Abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Work in a plasma collection center environment with frequent exposure to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and blood-borne pathogens.
- Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment while performing specific tasks or in certain areas.
- May be required to work overtime and extended hours to support center operational needs.
