About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Locomotive Operations Supervisor. As a key member of our operations team, you will lead and supervise unionized craftsmen in daily locomotive inspections, scheduled inspections, minor repairs, and on-service interruptions. Your responsibilities will include managing personnel, equipment, tools, and installations at the Daily Inspection Center/Service track.
Key Accountabilities
- Supervise and coordinate with unionized craftsmen (Universal Qualified Operators and Qualified Operators) for daily locomotive inspections, 92-day scheduled inspections, minor repairs, and on-service interruptions.
- Manage the Daily Inspection Center/Service track personnel, equipment, tools, and installations to ensure efficient operations.
- Prepare locomotive consist sets according to the strategic Transportation Service Plan (TSP), in coordination with the National Operating Center (NOC) and Mechanical Labor Union (MLU) Departments.
- Coordinate with local Transportation staff and NOC, MLU, and Maintenance Administration Control (MAC) desk for loc failures attention and scheduled inspection programs.
- Attend SCT verification visits in your locality.
- Demonstrate operational excellence by applying business requirements and customer focus to meet stakeholder expectations.
Requirements
- A High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- A minimum of two years of relevant operations experience is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Moderate command of English is desired.
- Basic knowledge of mechanics, electricity, and pneumatics is preferred.
- People management skills are necessary.
- Basic railroad knowledge is required.
- Basic computer system usage is expected.
Working Conditions
- Show a sense of urgency and focus on specific objectives.
- Utilize planning, productivity, and quality skills to use resources efficiently.
- Commit to achieving quality results and respond to stressful situations.
- Be able to alternate work shifts.
- Shift work is an essential function; you must be willing to support critical railroad operations 24/7, working various shifts as assigned.
