Electrification Engineering Manager - eHWA Job Description
Job Purpose:BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is seeking a dynamic, results-driven Electrification Engineering Manager – Electronics Hardware Architect (eHWA) to join our Indiana Technical Center in Noblesville and Kokomo, Indiana.
The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for staffing and managing a team of engineering specialists in electronics, specifically for use in power electronics applications. They will oversee the technical execution of their team, ensuring timely delivery of projects and objectives while guaranteeing that BorgWarner's electronics hardware products meet customer performance requirements.
Main Responsibilities:- Technical oversight of power electronics electrical hardware architecture engineers and electrical development lead engineers within the power electronics hardware team.
- Planning, directing, and coordinating efforts of the power electronics team to meet internal and external customer requirements.
- Ensuring flawless design and launch/commercialization processes.
- Managing and prioritizing workload of the team and related outside resources.
- Talent management, including recruitment, retention, and career growth needs matching with available training and job-assignment opportunities.
- Creation of standard work processes, design templates & guidelines for power electronics/electronics products.
- Maintenance of power electronics product and technology roadmaps.
- Communication and enforcement of safe work procedures.
- Identification and closure of safety issues and their corrective actions.
- Team resource availability and skill/knowledge alignment with project needs.
- Resolution of priority task conflicts within the team.
- Escalation point for competency and resource team issues.
- Facilitation of clear and open communication within the team.
- Leadership in competency development.
- Definition, development, and maintenance of technical guidance documentation for development roles within the group.
- Customer interface commitment to deliverables and timing.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
- Minimum 8 years electronics engineering experience required, with at least 3 years specific to electronics hardware design.
- Prior supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Automotive experience strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with requirements gathering and management tools such as Polarion.
- Experience working within an ASPICE-based process environment (or similar).
- Excellent people skills and history of teamwork.
- Ability to determine best techniques/procedures and apply for analysis, design, or experimental procedures.
- Documentation and sharing of best practices.
- Mentoring less experienced colleagues; role model for BW Beliefs.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Willingness/ability to travel 10% both domestically and internationally.
- Process-focused individual with good communication skills.
- Experience delivering projects with functional safety (ISO26262) requirements.
- Propulsion or electric motor system experience.
