Job Summary:

As a key member of the Jabil Circuit team, the Lead Manufacturing Engineer - Operations Excellence will be responsible for leading the Manufacturing Engineering Department in achieving operational excellence, integrity, and enthusiasm. This role requires a creative and proactive contributor who is focused on continuous improvement and driving process test optimization, improvement, and execution to plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Manufacturing Engineers and Machine Support Engineers in coordinating day-to-day activities in support of the manufacturing plan.
  • Display expert knowledge of the corporate Manufacturing Engineering environment and share information on the corporate environment with the Manufacturing Engineering function.
  • Drive efficiencies in current technical systems and manage the development of new technical systems.
  • Support the Engineering Manager in evaluating and equipping the site for today and future needs.
  • Support the Engineering Manager with labor forecasting and skills needs in line with new business requirements.
  • Undertake technology benchmarking and drive 'best in class' engineering solutions.
  • Lead and manage the Manufacturing Engineering Function, agreeing clear performance metrics and reviewing performance metrics and progress continuously.
  • Effectively prepare for and perform informal 1-to-1s and annual appraisals, identifying training and development needs on an ongoing basis.
  • Provide 1-to-1 coaching to facilitate individual excellence and drive a mindset of innovation and continuous improvement throughout the Manufacturing Engineering function.
  • Create and manage a succession plan for the Manufacturing Engineering function and drive motivation levels within the function.
  • Drive consistency of approach and performance, ensuring an effective forum for the exchange of ideas and information exists within the function.
  • Review the absence profile and employee turnover within the function and facilitate/coach the Manufacturing Engineers and Machine Technicians with regards to their roles and responsibilities within the team.
  • Build and maintain effective customer relationships, supporting business development through assessing the needs of potential customers in conjunction with the Engineering Manager and Engineering Leads.
  • Provide effective tools and evaluation strategies to support Jabil Circuit's quoting activity and provide expert problem-solving and customer-focused support to individual businesses.
  • Drive the Manufacturing Engineering function to provide existing customers with improved business solutions and proactively identify internal customer needs.
  • Drive 'internal customer focus' mindset within Engineering teams and effectively cascade functional/business information and expectations.
  • Drive continuous improvement in areas of cost, quality, and delivery, analyzing and prioritizing areas for Manufacturing Engineering improvement.
  • Create a continuous improvement culture throughout the Manufacturing Engineering team with proactive presence online, focusing on key improvement areas.
  • Create a vehicle to support multi-disciplined teams at all organizational levels to drive proactive involvement in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work with engineering disciplines and manufacturing to establish service level agreements and drive key site and global objectives through Focus, Commit, Deliver, and Lean deployment.
  • Attend and lead in key Jabil Circuit meetings, particularly TIC and QIC.
