As an Ocean Freight Coordinator at DB Schenker, you will play a crucial role in coordinating and handling export and import ocean freight shipments for our global logistics network. Your responsibilities will include coordinating with Ocean Carriers and Gateways to ensure timely and accurate shipment processing.
Key Responsibilities- Receive, validate, and distribute pre-advise documentation from origin, gateway, and TPOCC.
- Request bookings to carriers and send booking confirmations to required parties.
- Receive, validate, and distribute arrival notices from carriers and gateways.
- Distribute pick-up numbers, hold/examination notices, freight invoices, and other ancillary charges, notices, or invoices.
- Effectively communicate with Ocean Carriers and Gateways regarding corrections to manifests and arrival notices.
- Perform credit checks, denied party checks, and check requisitions for outstanding COD charges.
- Coordinate delivery and drayage, including generation and distribution of Drayage/Delivery orders and/or internal orders.
- Communicate with Client Service Leads regarding shipment status, pick-ups, deliveries, and changes to shipments.
- Communicate with Carriers regarding requests for cargo diversion.
- Communicate with Carriers regarding rush requests for priority charge/discharge, rail-loading, and special instructions.
- Business English required.
- Knowledge of U.S. Customs requirements, Freight Forwarding/Supply Chain Logistics.
- Knowledge of Incoterms.
- Must be detail-oriented and accurate when processing documentation.
- Knowledge of international ports and geography.
