Corning Inc. is a leading technology company that invents life-changing products using materials science. We are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator to join our team.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will be responsible for providing superior engineering and production support for Oracle Database environments. This includes driving and participating in efforts to ensure platform stability, maximizing database performance, and partnering with application owners/teams to understand application and business needs.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide production support for database environments, working with 24X7 support staff.
- Perform database administration tasks, including installation, configuration, management, patching, and upgrading of database environments.
- Perform database backup and recovery, as well as database refresh.
- Monitor and tune database performance.
- Identify and drive improvement efforts related to our database portfolio.
- Participate in Change Advisory Board and provide guidance on database changes.
- Perform problem resolution for complex issues, including root cause analysis and outlining resolution options.
- Provide off-hours support for critical production issues.
- Automate infrastructure components using scripting, coding, and automation tools.
- Maintain technical knowledge on current and emerging multi-cloud developments, industry trends, and assess opportunities for incorporation into current and future strategies.
- Work with third-party support teams and application support teams to educate and guide them on steady-state supporting database infrastructure related technologies.
- BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
- 2-5 years of experience working in IT as an Oracle Database Administrator.
- Experience with Linux and Windows OS.
- Experience working in manufacturing industry (or similar) to understand data security requirements.
- Effective leadership, organization, and planning skills.
- Excellent communications, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
- Demonstrated track record of on-time delivery within budget.
- Ability to lead international teams across multiple initiatives.
