Oracle Database Administrator

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing superior engineering and production support for Oracle Database environments. This will involve leveraging technical acumen to drive and participate in efforts to ensure platform stability and maximize performance of database environments. The candidate will also partner with application owners/teams to understand application and business needs and Service Level Objectives (SLO).
Key Responsibilities:- Production support for database environments working with 24X7 support staff
- Database administration, including installation, configuration, and management, patching, and upgrade of database environments
- Performing database backup and recovery
- Performing database refresh
- Database/SQL monitoring and performance tuning
- Using database expertise and leadership experience to identify and drive improvement efforts related to our database portfolio
- Participating in Change Advisory Board and providing guidance on database changes
- Performing problem resolution for complex issues, including root cause analysis, and outlining resolution options
- Providing off-hours support, when required, for critical production issues
- Automating infrastructure components leveraging understanding of scripting, coding, and automation using one or more of the following: PowerShell, Microsoft DSC, Chef, Puppet, Ruby, Terraform, OEM, or others
- Maintaining technical knowledge on current and emerging Multi-Cloud developments, industry trends, assessing the opportunity, and collaborating with stakeholders to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future strategies
- Working with the third-party support team (on-shore and off-shore) and application support teams to educate and guide them for steady-state supporting database infrastructure-related technologies
- Promoting and self-demonstrating Corning's principles of Performance, Leadership, Innovation, Independence, the Individual, Quality, and Integrity
- BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
- 2-5 years working in IT as Oracle Database Administrator
- Played pivotal roles as Database Administrator and support staff across various database technologies
- Knowledgeable in database technologies – Oracle RAC, Grid Infrastructure, Oracle Enterprise Manager, Linux scripting, etc.
- Database/SQL monitoring and performance tuning
- Experience with Linux and Windows OS
- Should have experience of working in Manufacturing Industry (or similar) to understand the data security requirements like ITAR/PCI/PHI/HIPPA/NIST/SOX, etc.
- Effective leadership, organization, and planning skills, with ability to handle changing priorities
- Excellent communications, interpersonal, and influencing skills
- Demonstrated track record of on-time delivery within budget; ability to drive projects to successful conclusion using influencing tools
- Ability to lead international teams across multiple initiatives that span various lines of business, geographic borders, time zones, and cultures
- Experience with SAP/PeopleSoft is a plus
