We're looking for an exceptional individual to join our team as a Senior Legal Director in Latin America (LATAM). This role requires a seasoned attorney with expertise in managing complex legal matters, providing strategic guidance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

About the Job

  • Manage all legal matters arising in LATAM, providing critical input on litigation matters, including claims before Ethics Committees of local Trade Associations, with a focus on Colombia and Mexico.
  • Lead internal initiatives and projects that impact Lilly's organization in LATAM, leveraging your strong leadership skills and business acumen.
  • Collaborate with local Pricing Committees to advise on commercial strategy, pricing policies, and product discounts.
  • Oversee high-risk, high-complexity projects, including budget management and resource allocation.
  • Provide legal guidance to management and their teams on various matters, ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures.
  • Offer strategic and operational advice across business units on a range of legal aspects and complex business matters, focusing on:
    • Gaining fair market access for our products.
    • Navigating the dynamic Government Sales environment in LATAM.
    • Supporting the timely launch of new products, maximizing marketing efforts, and late-life cycle management.
    • Advising on rebates, co-pay, risk-sharing, and innovative pricing schemes.
    • Reviewing complex commercial and marketing programs.
  • Collaborate with the Hub Legal team to ensure One Voice Counseling aligned with Legal Pillars.
  • Advise on exploiting critical business opportunities while protecting the company's interests, demonstrating strong business acumen.
  • Stay up-to-date on local laws with potential implications on the business, providing training as needed.
  • Lead projects to strengthen governance and internal controls.
  • Instruct and manage the Outside Counsel Network, ensuring effective cost management and quality control.
  • Partner with the business to foster a culture of Ethics and Compliance.
  • Advise on internal and external complaints, investigations, and challenges related to anti-trust, fraud/corruption, product liability, and product exclusivity.
  • Monitor, identify, interpret, and communicate relevant changes in law to business partners and supervisors, providing training as necessary.
  • Make decisions impacting multiple processes and projects, leveraging your technical expertise and influence.
  • Anticipate and resolve complex matters in specific areas of accountability.
  • Advise on, draft, review, and negotiate agreements related to the company's business.
  • Lead complex negotiations.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience as an attorney.
  • A proven record of counseling directly in Mexico and one or more major markets in LATAM.
  • Experience managing complex legal problems for corporate clients.
  • Prior experience as in-house counsel in the life science sector.
  • Ability to navigate cross-cultural contexts.
  • Fluency in English.

Estimated Salary: $150,000 - $200,000 per annum, depending on location and experience.
