About the Role

Marsh McLennan is seeking a highly skilled Cloud Data Engineer Lead to join our team in Mexico City. As a key member of our data engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of data ingestion and transformation pipelines in the cloud.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Data Engineering Team: Provide technical leadership and guidance to a small team of data engineers, ensuring the successful delivery of data ingestion and transformation projects.
  • Design and Implement Data Pipelines: Conceptualize and implement comprehensive, scalable, and reusable data pipelines using AWS services such as Databricks, S3, and Glue.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with source system and application teams to integrate and establish data pipelines, ensuring seamless data flow and quality.
  • Improve Data Landscape: Understand the data landscape, including tooling, tech stack, and source systems, and work with extended platform teams to improve data collection, quality, reporting, and analytics capabilities.
  • Drive Business Intelligence: Collaborate with analytics and business teams to improve data models, increasing data accessibility and fostering data-driven decision-making across the organization.
  • Participate in Software Development Lifecycle: Participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle, including planning, requirements, development, testing, and quality assurance.
  • Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Troubleshoot incidents, identify root causes, fix, and document problems, and implement preventive measures to ensure minimal business disruption.
Requirements
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Technical Expertise: 3+ years of relevant Data Ingestion/ETL/ELT, Big Data, and Data Visualizations experience in mission-critical platforms.
  • Programming Skills: Strong Python or Java development and SQL experience.
  • Experience with AWS: Experience working on AWS and related services, such as Glue, Athena, and S3.
  • Agile Environment: Must have experience working in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing expectations and requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong AWS Experience: Strong experience with AWS services, including Databricks and Glue.
  • Prior Experience in Insurance Services: Prior experience working in insurance services or a related industry.
  • Experience with Informatica: Experience with Informatica data quality and governance tools.
