Job Summary

The Rare Disease Account Executive (RDAE) plays a critical role in driving patient identification and market development for SMA by creating territory, account, and customer strategies to achieve area sales, market share, and profit targets. This position requires effective relationship-building with physicians and treatment clinics to educate on SPINRAZA and remove barriers.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide information to management to help identify, segment, profile, and define national key accounts, such as hospitals, purchase groups, and guideline providers.
  • Establish the clinical value of SPINRAZA and instill a sense of urgency to treat SMA.
  • Ensure logistics are in place to administer SPINRAZA.
  • Develop individual and cross-functional strategic account plans to approach customers, improve standard of care, remove barriers, and maintain relationships to maximize quality SMA care with SPINRAZA.
  • Partner with market access, marketing, and medical teams to support territory activities and provide expert support as needed.
  • Build and maintain long-term customer relationships with key stakeholders responsible for SMA care delivery and funding of treatment.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of commercial or field medical experience in a multinational pharmaceutical/biotech company.
  • Preferred experience in rare diseases.
  • Pricing policies and healthcare system knowledge highly desirable.
  • High degree of learning agility to learn/understand SPINRAZA administration and neuromuscular diseases.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and handle risk and uncertainty.
  • Experience working in a commercial team that addresses patient/caregiver needs, ideally in leading cross-functional field teams.
  • Comfortable spending > 50-60% of time traveling.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in science and/or business administration, economy, or related field.
  • Master's degree desirable.
  • English advanced level (reading mainly), intermediate speaking.
