About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Marine Underwriter to join our team at AIG. As a Marine Underwriter, you will be responsible for analyzing and quoting marine business, ensuring compliance with company guidelines and risk appetite. You will also administer and renew existing portfolios, collecting and analyzing data from claims, actuarial, multinational, and distribution divisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend new business submissions with premium over 100k USD, analyzing and quoting as per company guidelines and appetite, delivering and negotiating for closure.
  • Anticipate and participate in the renewal process of complex and large accounts for Cargo, Marine Liability, and Inland Marine, evaluating losses, premiums, and conditions.
  • Responsible for the performance of the portfolio of Inland Marine produced in AIG Go.
  • Provide service to current portfolio requests, including endorsements, responding to brokers and agents in a timely manner consistent with SLAs.
  • Complete corresponding trainings to obtain underwriting authority in Marine products: Cargo, Inland Marine, Marine Liability, and Freight Forwarders Liability.
  • Quote and administer Multinational Programs, including handoff, claims bulletin, and endorsements.
  • Perform monthly peer reviews.
  • Interact with other AIG areas to collect or provide information, such as Claims, Distribution, Actuary, and Finance.
  • Attend external meetings with brokers and Insureds to reinforce business line strategy, strengthen relations, and increase new business opportunities, promoting AIG values and behaviors.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience in Underwriting Marine Cargo, Property, Contractors Equipment, or Liability for a Multinational company.
  • Knowledge of market trends, terms, and conditions, as well as good relations with brokers and agents.
  • Technical skills, including effective broker engagement, commitment, teamwork, proactive management, time management, calendar organization, negotiation skills, and engagement with the team.
  • Advanced English required.
