About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Engineer to join our team at Rackspace Technology. As a key member of our support infrastructure, you will provide technical expertise to our customers, resolving complex issues and working collaboratively with internal teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Escalation: Serve as the primary point of contact for technical issues, working closely with Cloud Support and Engineering teams to resolve customer problems.
  • Infrastructure Maintenance: Monitor and maintain related infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and availability.
  • Cloud Environment Management: Ensure the integrity, accessibility, and control of the cloud environment for our enterprise customers.
  • Technical Communication: Provide technical expertise to support communications with various stakeholders, from individual contributors to business leaders.
  • Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing: Work with other Engineers and Administrators to share knowledge and best practices.
  • Customer Relationship Building: Collaborate with Account Managers and Business Development Consultants to foster strong customer relationships.
  • Project Leadership: Lead tasks related to system architecture enhancements, problem management, process improvement, reporting, and customer infrastructure.
  • Mentorship and Training: Mentor and assist Rackers across the Cloud Function, providing guidance and support to help them grow in their roles.
Requirements
  • Advanced English Skills: Fluency in English is required, with a strong understanding of technical terminology.
  • Cloud Platform Expertise: Proficient knowledge of Azure Cloud Platform, including its features, services, and tools.
  • Automation and CI/CD: Proficient skills in leveraging CI and CD tools to automate testing and deployment.
  • Operating System Knowledge: Proficient knowledge of Linux or Windows OS, including server failover clustering, Active Directory, and IIS.
  • Distributed Systems: Intermediate knowledge of designing, building, implementing, analyzing, and troubleshooting distributed, highly available systems.
  • Hosting Environments: Intermediate understanding of services and protocols, configuration, management, and troubleshooting of hosting environments, including web servers, databases, caching, and database services.
  • Programming Languages: Proficient skills in at least one of the following languages: Python, PHP, Ruby, and Java.
  • Version Control: Proficient skills with git and git workflows.
  • Configuration Management: Intermediate knowledge of at least one configuration management system such as Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Salt, or other such tools.
  • Project Management: Intermediate knowledge of Project Management methodologies.
  • Network Software and Hardware: Intermediate knowledge of current and emerging network software and hardware technology and protocols.
  • Virtualization: Intermediate knowledge of the vSphere platform / Hyper-V platform.
  • Networking Fundamentals: Basic networking skills.
  • Storage and Networking: Basic working knowledge of fibre channel SANS, NFS, and vSAN.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Basic knowledge of vROPS.
  • Server Hardware: Basic working knowledge of HP/DELL Server hardware platforms.
  • Passion for Technology: A passion for technology and a desire to constantly expand technical knowledge.
  • Attention to Detail: Detail-oriented in documenting information and able to own customer issues through resolution.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work under pressure, with sound problem-solving skills.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, both highly technical and non-technical.
  • Certifications: Nice to have: Certifications in Azure.

Language: Fluent, Bi-lingual (Spanish and English)

Location: This opportunity is a permanent remote job, but you need to be based in Mexico at one of the following locations: Ciudad de Mexico, Jalisco, Nuevo Leon, Aguascalientes, Queretaro, Estado de Mexico, and Puebla.
