We're seeking a seasoned Corporate Real Estate Attorney in Mexico City to join our transactional group within the legal department.
This role will focus on acquisitions, dispositions, condemnations, financing, development, and environmental matters.
- Draft and negotiate all real estate transaction documents, emphasizing acquisitions and dispositions of developed and undeveloped properties, and ground leases.
- Oversee transactions, including title and survey review, coordinating with in-house paralegals, and managing closing logistics.
- Support land use and development processes, working closely with local business and development teams to draft and negotiate development agreements, construction management agreements, easements, licenses, cost-sharing agreements, and other related documents.
- Review and negotiate loan documents, including new debt, loan assumptions, substitutions, and releases, in collaboration with the internal Treasury Department.
- Manage condemnation-related actions, negotiating with condemning authorities for condemnation award settlements and preparing conveyances in lieu of condemnations.
- Oversee litigation matters relating to title, boundary disputes, and environmental litigation.
Requirements:
- Law degree and at least 5+ years of real estate transactional experience similar in scope to the described responsibilities.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills required.
- Comfortable handling high-volume transactions and thriving in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, commitment to professionalism, integrity, collegiality, and ability to work on a wide range of legal matters.
- Must be an independent, self-directed, organized, and diligent worker, able to work with minimal supervision.
- Able to work under tight deadlines, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize appropriately, and delegate to available resources.
- Must be able to anticipate problems and issues, exercise independent judgment to make sound legal decisions, and take action in solving problems while knowing when and to whom to escalate issues.
- Strong PC skills with Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
We offer a competitive salary ranging from $120,000 to $180,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits and leadership development opportunities.
