About this position

We are seeking an experienced professional to lead our efforts in Central America, Haiti, Mexico, Panama, and the Dominican Republic as Managing Director.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Maintain strong relationships with governments and participate in business development with private sector clients and entities.

  • Provide guidance and oversight to Country Representatives, supporting their strategic, tactical, and operational responsibilities.

  • Oversee and be responsible for business performance from a regional perspective with the Delivery Units.

  • Together with Country Representatives, shape country strategies from a private sector perspective.

  • Define countries' priorities and strategies and establish upstream work.

  • Identify, promote, and execute synergies with IDB and IDB Lab.

  • Manage operational, human, capital, and budgetary resources at the unit level.

  • Coordinate with IDB (VPS) and IDB Lab counterparts to promote synergies.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of relevant experience as a banker with a proven business track record.

  • Proven regional expertise and strong relationships with the market and clients in Latin America and the Caribbean.

  • Master's degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Law, Engineering, or another relevant field.

  • Proficiency in English and one of the other Bank's official languages (Spanish, French, or Portuguese) is required.

  • No citizenship requirements.

  • No family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
