Safety and Compliance Coordinator

Position Overview
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety management systems, training programs, and protocols while ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and company policies.
- Continuously monitor and update safety regulations, laws, and reporting requirements. Offer technical safety and health guidance to all personnel to maintain a secure, organized, and hygienic workplace.
- Oversee and facilitate safety training initiatives to guarantee compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT (if applicable), and other regulatory mandates. Possess a thorough understanding of DOT compliance and regulations (if applicable) along with EPA and environmental standards (if applicable).
- Manage risk assessments and accident investigations, including maintaining accurate records. Analyze data from risk assessments, near misses, and incidents to present findings to senior management.
- Lead health and safety meetings, document outcomes, and track progress on action items. Review reports on injury/illness and non-injury incidents, following up as necessary.
- Conduct mandatory environmental, health, and safety training, ensuring that all new hires, agency personnel, contractors, visitors, and transferred employees receive appropriate training.
- Collaborate with operational teams to enhance the work environment, minimizing employee exposure to operational hazards. Propose improvements to processes and product safety features to reduce risks.
- Perform internal audits, workplace inspections, and health & safety tours at scheduled intervals to ensure compliance with audit standards. Work with auditors and vendors to address findings and complaints promptly and professionally.
- Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and rectify potential hazards, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Review plans and specifications for new machinery, equipment, or processes to confirm all safety requirements are met.
- Establish and maintain emergency preparedness and response protocols. Participate as a member of the First Aid/CPR Responder/ERT teams.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field, with relevant health and safety experience in a fast-paced warehouse or manufacturing setting.
- In-depth knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulatory requirements as they pertain to federal, state, provincial, and local agencies.
- Proven experience in developing and managing health and safety programs.
- OSHA 10 Hour certification or basic knowledge of plant safety, along with current First Aid/CPR First Responder training, is advantageous.
- Flexibility to work on-call hours outside of regular business hours, including off-shift hours as needed.
- Proficient in computer applications, particularly MS Office.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with an emphasis on procedures, presentations, and training. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
