Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety management systems, training programs, and procedures while ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and company policies.
  • Continuously monitor and update safety regulations, laws, and reporting requirements. Offer technical support and guidance to all employees to maintain a safe, organized, and hygienic workplace.
  • Coordinate safety training initiatives to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT (if applicable), and other regulatory standards. Have a solid understanding of DOT compliance and regulations (if applicable) as well as EPA and environmental regulations (if applicable).
  • Facilitate risk assessments and accident investigations, including thorough record-keeping. Analyze risk assessments, near misses, and accident data to present findings to senior management.
  • Lead health and safety meetings, present relevant data, document actions, and track progress on safety initiatives. Review injury/illness and non-injury incident investigation reports and follow up as necessary.
  • Administer mandatory environmental, health, and safety training, ensuring that all new hires, agency employees, contractors, visitors, and transferred employees receive appropriate training.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to enhance the working environment, minimizing employee exposure to operational hazards. Recommend process and product safety features to reduce risks.
  • Conduct internal audits, workplace inspections, and health & safety tours to ensure compliance with audit standards. Work with auditors and vendors to address findings and complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and rectify potential hazards, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Review plans and specifications for new machinery, equipment, or processes to confirm all safety requirements are met.
  • Develop and maintain emergency preparedness and response plans. Participate as a member of the First Aid/CPR Responder/ERT teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field, with relevant health and safety experience in a fast-paced warehouse or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulatory requirements as they pertain to federal, state, provincial, and local agencies.
  • Proven experience in developing and managing health and safety programs.
  • OSHA 10 Hour certification or basic knowledge of plant safety and current First Aid/CPR First Responder training is a plus.
  • Flexibility to work on-call hours outside of normal business hours as needed.
  • Proficient in MS applications and computer literate.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
