The Team:
The Mexico metals team is an integral part of the larger Americas team covering ferrous and nonferrous metals that values teamwork and decision-making abilities. This Mexico City-based role involves price assessments and reporting for Latin America steel and scrap benchmarks, as well as supporting US ferrous coverage.
Responsibilities and Impact:
The Associate Price Reporter, Ferrous Metals, will be responsible for price assessments that are key ingredients in steelmaking. The market reporter will gather, test and publish price information on a real-time basis, and obtain an understanding of supply-demand fundamentals from daily interactions with primary market participants. They will also conduct price assessments based on established methodology, contribute to its development, and will write and lead insightful market commentaries, news and analysis pieces.
Based in S&P Global Energy's Mexico City office, the successful candidate will possess knowledge of market intelligence-gathering and assessing commodities prices.
This individual must be comfortable writing about pricing information and interpreting data. The finalist will be considered a subject matter expert in the industry; be able to master the challenges of covering metals markets on a frequent basis and be a team player. Furthermore, the successful candidate will understand the relationship between the physical and derivatives markets for metals.
The successful candidate will be responsible for reporting on the Mexico ferrous scrap markets daily, generate price assessments, commentaries and news stories, working as part of a team. The person will also actively engage with market participants across the region on methodology and market developments, including through in-person and virtual presentations.

What We're Looking For:
Desire to gather market intelligence and data to produce price assessments
Determination to produce daily price assessments, market commentaries and news/analysis stories.
Strong command of written and spoken English; proficiency in Spanish
Ability to collaborate with others in a team-oriented environment across regions
Strong attention to detail, integrity in one's work, critical thinking and decision making abilities
Energy, drive and ambition to adapt and excel in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in Excel, ability to learn internal platforms
Highly developed interpersonal skills
Experience in metals, commodity or financial markets in a reporting or analytic role
