Job Details:
The Senior Infrastructure Database Administrator is responsible for assisting with design, implementation, administration and maintenance of the organization's database platforms. They provide guidance, mentorship, and technical acumen to the team, ensuring the company's databases' reliability, scalability, and security.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists with design, implementation, and maintenance of complex database systems.
  • Ensure database performance, availability, and security at an advanced level.
  • Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, and integrations.
  • Providing technical leadership and guidance to cross-functional teams, mentoring junior engineers, and fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Competency in hosting sessions with cross-functional teams to review performance analysis, capacity planning, and optimization of database systems to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Implementing and maintaining security measures to protect database systems from potential threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Manage and optimize cloud-based database services like AWS, GCP, or Azure to ensure cost-effectiveness and scalability.
  • Automating infrastructure deployment, configuration, and monitoring processes using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or Puppet.
  • Perform other assigned job-related duties that align with our organization's vision, mission, and values and fall within your scope of practice.

Qualifications
:

Education
: Bachelor's Degree or relevant experience. Computer Science or Computer Engineering Preferred.

Experience
: 5+ years of relevant and practical experience in infrastructure management, network administration, or system engineering.

Special Skills:

  • Proficiency in SQL Server architecture including configuration, clustering, replication, Always On availability groups, and disaster recovery strategies
  • Proficiency in database performance tuning and optimization such as query optimization, index management, execution plan analysis, and resolving blocking/deadlocks
  • Experience with cloud-based databases and services such as AWS RDS, GCP CloudSQL or AzureSQL.
  • Proficiency in Windows Server environments and integration with Active Directory.
  • Hands-on experience with upgrading and patching SQL Server instances across multiple versions
  • Proficiency in t-sql scripting and automation. Powershell or Python is a plus.
