Infrastructure Portfolio Manager

The IT Project Group Manager is accountable for management of complex/critical/large professional disciplinary areas. Leads and directs a team of professionals. Requires a comprehensive understanding of multiple areas within a function and how they interact in order to achieve the objectives of the function. Applies in-depth understanding of the business impact of technical contributions. Strong commercial awareness is a necessity. Generally accountable for delivery of a full range of services to one or more businesses/ geographic regions. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication may be necessary. Accountable for the end results of an area. **Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for all technology components of the development and implementation of major/multiple/highly complex projects; may manage enterprise wide projects.
- Develops detailed IT work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans and status reports.
- Provides IT strategic direction for projects managed.
- Sets guidelines for appropriate staffing requirements to meet operational needs.
- Impacts the IT project leadership function by strategic influence and by exercising control over resources, budget management and planning; accountable for end results.
- Evaluates subordinates' performance and makes decisions on pay increases, hiring, terminations and other personnel actions.
- Applies in-depth knowledge of concepts and procedures within own area and basic knowledge of other areas to resolve issues that have impact beyond own area.
- Ensures essential procedures are followed and contributes to defining standards.
- Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of how IT project leadership integrates within the overall technology function to achieve objectives; requires a good understanding of the industry.
- Provides evaluative judgment based on analysis of factual information in complicated, unique and dynamic situations; draws on diverse range of internal and external sources.
- Influences and negotiates with senior leaders (across functions); may communicate with external parties.

**Qualifications**:

- 10+ years experience in a related technology role with commensurate people management experience

**Education**:

- Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience, potentially Masters degree

**Responsibilities**:

- Manages multiple large business strategic high dollar-value infrastructure projects, with cross-functional impact or significant impact in a single functional area.
- Ensures that projects remain aligned with strategic initiatives, providing updates as necessary to sponsors/committees and ensuring adequate resources are available.
- Manages large teams - both direct staff and non-employees
- A Leader, in charge of guiding, monitoring, and leading an entire group, being responsible for motivating teammates as well as inspiring positive communication within them so that they can work together towards achieving goals
- Partners with the various clients to develop objectives for key projects.
- Manages complex financials typically associated with infrastructure projects
- Practices established project management disciplines including the development of project plans/timelines, facilitates project meetings, etc.
- Identifies critical paths for large projects, including the sequencing of events.
- Orchestrate and drive the successful and timely completion of infrastructure scope in Technology projects to achieve the business goals, including the identification and resolution of risks and issues, which impact project delivery.
- Work collaboratively with extended the technology teams to develop comprehensive infrastructure project plans based on approved funding. Project plans typically include scope, schedule, cost, quality, roles and responsibilities, communication, dependencies, staffing, risk and issue management. Obtain commitment to the plans.
- Ensure that for each of the programs/projects in his/her portfolio:

- All stakeholders and their needs are identified and managed.
- Effectively manage project work within the approved scope. Implement and manage scope change control processes and update project plans based on approved changes.
- Understand the dependencies and inter-relationships of the tasks and deliverables.
