Job Summary:

The intern provides administrative and programmatic support for current and developing programs in Mexico. This position will be based with our program team in Mexico City, Mexico or Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico. The position will be compliant with Mexican Labor law as to the time of weekly hours served and other conditions of employment.

Please note that at this time, we are only able to consider candidates who are eligible to work in Mexico and the position is based in Guanajuato and/or in Mexico City.

Primary Functions & Responsibilities:

Programmatic: 

Assist in researching a variety of topics for briefing papers and reports.  Support key record-keeping functions of the field office, including taking minutes at staff meetings, cleaning databases (contact lists, program inventory, etc.).  Assist staff with program administration and events, including interview coding, translating reports and other documents, logistics, elaboration of invites, prepare templates, and other tasks as needed. Monitors domestic media outlets daily for news on topics assigned. Help drafting tweets IRI's Latin America Twitter account related to program activities.

Monitoring and Evaluation: 

Assist the State Associates, Senior Program Associate and Program Associate with the collecting and monitoring of information related to activities. Such as collecting information from attendance sheets, reviewing partners' relevant documents, and systematizing pre and post partners surveys.

Administrative:

Assist the Senior Program Associate and Program Associate in identifying and communicating with local vendors. Any translation required by the team. (From English to Spanish or Spanish to English).

Position Requirements:

Excellent verbal and written skills in Spanish and English.  Current student or recently graduated in Political Science, International Affairs, Latin American Studies, or related field from a University in Mexico. Familiarity with Microsoft Office.  Detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills.  Ability to manage time effectively, complete tasks with minimal oversight, and communicate clearly and consistently in a virtual work environment.
