This position will report to the Claims Complex Dir Sr. Severity unit and will handle a portfolio of casualty, Financial Lines & Cyber claims being the main role to investigate, assessment, evaluate, negotiate, and settle complex claims, to timely and accurate resolution, ensuring mitigation of indemnity and expense exposure while communicating developments and outcomes as necessary to all key internal and external stakeholders. Provide a high standard of customer service and adherence to legal and regulatory requirements. To manage a team of Adjusters / Senior Adjusters in the complex unit.  To drive best practice claims handling performance both in terms of optimal claims outcomes and customer service, and the technical and professional development of their team.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

1. Functional Responsibilities:

  • Manage the allocation of claims within their Complex team of adjusters
  • Provide a technical referral point for team members and manage performance,
  • Keep the (LoB) Senior Manager advised of key Complex loss developments and wider Complex trends. 
  • Execute strategic initiatives within their Complex team
  • Ensure Complex ‘Best Practice’ is maintained within their Complex team
  • Drive performance through required criteria
  • Ensure claims are accurately assessed and proactively reserved within agreed service levels
  • Embed use of balance scorecard/KPIs within team Managing key claims handling enquiry;

coverage determination, quantum analysis and legal liability assessment, where appropriate for high value complex claims.

  • Ensuring effective vendor and litigation management on Complex claims within a personal allocation, including demonstrable savings.
  • Accurate and consistent interpretation of policies with respect to claims for medium to high complexity claims
  • Reporting key claims messages to their Team Manager and to internal stakeholders.
  • Broader internal / external stakeholder communication where required, as (LoB) technical claims expert and thought leader.

  • Personal Development / Succession Planning for individuals within the Complex team.
  • Managing compliance with governance standards and regulatory requirements within the Complex team.

3. Skills and expertise.

  • Bachelor’s degree. (Preferable graduated in law studies and/or law knowledge).
  • Bilingual –Advanced level of English, spoken, listened, and written.
  • 5 Years’ Experience in the insurance services sector, as an claims Analyst or Adjuster preferably Adjuster´s license or related may be required, preferably.
  • Time management - Ability to handle multiple priorities, organize work and meet deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to provide information clearly and concisely.
  • The ability to solve problems and develop new ideas to improve working practices
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Computer proficiency. Microsoft Packages – Excel, Word, Outlook etc and ability to use applications in a Windows environment.
  • Fully developed specialist knowledge in (Casualty, Financial lines, Cyber) technical claims topics.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience, both internal (underwriting, distribution, actuarial, finance and executive management) and external (brokers, major account clients)
  • Policy language skills enabling accurate and consistent policy wording interpretation.
  • A strong knowledge of legal / regulatory and litigation / procedural requirements.
  • Experience in negotiation, mediation, arbitration and ADR skills
  • Experience in conducting technical claims audits and effectively following up on findings.
  • People and team management experience, including the proven ability to effectively manage team members
  • Ability to positively influence, in a multi-cultural environment, stakeholders at every level both internally & externally.
  • Broad range of leadership competencies, from direction and pace setting to coaching and effective listening.
