A company of substance in everything we do, from the products we make, to investing in communities, to protecting our environment, International Paper supports communities where our employees live and work.Under the day to day supervision of the Site Controller, the Finance Assistant is part of a training effort designed to provide a structured yet flexible environment in which the Associate is exposed to all aspects of the Container business via formal courses, multi-site on-the-job training, special projects and one-on-one feedback from leadership. The Finance Assistant is generally one of two salaried financial personnel at the manufacturing site.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:While actively engaged in developing the skills needed to successfully transition to a position of increasing responsibility, the Finance Specialist will support the plant controller and staff. Primary areas of focus include internal controls (safeguarding company assets); preparing financial statements in conformity with professional, regulatory, and company procedures; supplying timely and meaningful analytic data that measures business results and provides useful insights to management; identifying opportunities and recommending solutions to business problems; and supervising, training and developing best practices in the accounting staff.POSITION REQUIREMENTS:- Education - Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration with a minimum of 12 hours of accounting- Self-starter with excellent written, oral, and listening skills- The ability to work effectively with others and participate on teams- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment- Fully Bililngual - (Spanish/English)TECHNICAL / FUNCTIONAL:- General and cost accounting, including financial close processes and financial statement preparation- Internal controls identification, maintenance, development and assessment- Analytical & financial skills including budgeting, forecasting, key performance measures, working capital management and special projects- Information systems use, oversight and management.- Knowledge of sales & marketing and distribution processes- Knowledge of quality improvement and manufacturing processes (root cause analysis and corrective action recommendations)COMPETENCIES:- Integrity and Trust- Basic Accounting and Controls- Financial Concepts- Standard Costs- SAP Working Knowledge- Customer Focus- Organizing and Planning- Problem Solving- Action oriented- Drive For ResultsInternational Paper offers a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package.
